Get good friends to be in your band, because, if you don't know each other well, it'll be awkward.

^^ Yeah, if you're all beginners you should get your friends. That way you will learn together, and will create your very own unique sound Mr. Green

You'd be the singer of course?

That attitude towards it won't get you a band. If you know more about every instrument a band needs you will also find more open doors.

guitarists are the easiest to find, alot of boys play guitars. become friends with them first though before asking to form a band, then you'll get the gist whether they have the same taste in music as you and would be happy playing what you want to sing allong to.

ok
those are good tips
but i meen i'm the singer/ base player (i hope im spelling base right)
julie is the drummer (even thoug she don't know how to play)
and sam is the guitarest ( she is beeter at guitar then i am)
sam is also my back up singer.
which brings up a question
How many members do u need and what instrments are important if u want to creat a good band (besides drummes)

there's no "set number" of members.
but in the beginning it's good to have either.....
one lead vocalist, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, a bass, and drummer (and at least one of them should be back up vocalist)
or you can substitue a guitarist for a synth.
but you can do whatever you want.
the band i'm involved in has a lead voc, lead guitar/scream, rhythm guitar, synth/scream, bass, and drummer.

and everyone should know somthing about all the instruments involved.
i suggest lessons from a friend.

have fun.

that was good but most bands i see have 4 or 5 members and um... (im clueless) what's a synth
ok um...
i would like to be drummer but i can't be lead singer and the drummer (sucks)
i can play a little bass
i know guitar realy well
but i know we need a bass
and i know the loset number of people u can have in a band is 3
ill teach julie alittle drums and sam only knows how to play guitar so...
i have to be bass/lead voc.
julie says she can't sing (never really heard her)
Dang i'm the only boy in the band
ill ask another question
Is it better to uh...
how should i say this
to have more boys in a band then girls
why or why not?
oh and should i really think about making my band members get a teacher
(too bad i can't do it all)
lol
Im not a prep i sound like i am

3 people? You can have as many or a few as you like.

There are several 2 man bands in the world. And that's not just electronica bands.

For a band all you need is..
-some good friends
-teamwork
-it's good if you know a lot of people
-when you write songs make sure it's nothing you've ever heard before

But most importantly, have fun with it. =] Good luck.

Find musicians. Typically, you'll need at least one guitarist, one bassist, and a drummer, and the lead singer can either play an instrument or not. Of course, this all depends on what type of band you plan to be and what kind of music you will play. You can find musicians from music message boards or from myspace.

Good luck.

I'm sort of in the same position as you.. My band need a drummer and a guitarist... Some bands have success by advertising on "Band creating" sites... but I wouldnt recommend it. If you guys want to get a record deal (even with an Independant Label), and go on tour, you all have to be committed.

Work with people who have the same goals. If you guys are just into having fun and playing a few shows here and there, then don't work with people who want this as a life time job

I agree with what most people are saying
Making a band with good friends is good i've known the people in our band since primary school and we get along fine.

You don't need a set amount in a band some bands have two main people (white stripes) and some have like 7 or something around that area (slipknot).

do you just want a fun playing around band, or a really actual professional band?
because if it's just gonna be a fun gig thing, get some people you know. If not, ask around for someone who's a good musician, or mc, or whatever you're looking for.
Either way, if you wanna start playing shows, then you should get a set song list, and have instruments that are functional for an on stage performance, and not just a shitty half-broken guitar... or whatever.

Get people who want the same things that you do for the band, and make sure that money is or isn't an issue with everyone, because that matters A WHOLE LOT.
Make sure your getting people who want to be in a band for the right reasons.
and if image matters for you a whole lot, I think you should re-look the whole and thing, because some of the best musicians don't look anything like it.

hope you find a good band!

It's good to form a band with close friends, that way you all get along well, and can work away at it carefully, at your own pace.
But don't get me wrong, all bands have falling-outs and disagreements, it's all about forming a good band, I guess.
I'm in a band myself, we've been together for about a year, and things are starting to slowly come together now, although there's been a lot of problems with band members..
So far we have a permanent lead vocalist, lead guitarist (me), and bassist.
Still not sure with drummer and rhythm guitar though.
But just don't give up, and keep plugging away at it, and practise heaps!
That's the most important part - PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE!

A) Dude, it doesn't matter the SEX of the members of your band, what matters is the TALENT, the DEDICATION, and the ABILITY TO WORK TOGETHER. Just because most bands have all guys doesn't mean your band has too.

B) You don't need to have 3 people at the least

C) If you want to play guitar, play guitar. If you want to play drums, play drums. You can easily teach a guitarist to play bass easily. Plus you guys are beginners, you shouldn't be playing songs that have wicked hard parts to learn anyways. You guys are just starting out too, and finding a singer is only a matter of looking in the right places. Do you have friends in chorus? Ask them to do it. And, if your desire is to sing, you can always work on singing and drumming too, Aaron from Underoath does it, so does Brandon from Atreyu.

Starting a band is hard to do, but don't give up
