It adds to the atmosphere, I think, and definitely makes the focus of the drawing his face where, as stated above, you captured the emotion very well. Great job.  |

I love using charcoal too, and that looks great. It has nice value and shading, and the composition is interesting too. Maybe it would have a different effect if you blended in the arm more, just a suggestion. I like the way it is now though |

but hey, that looks really nice.
there are some bits that are a bit hard to discern, like his arm maybe blends in a bit too much with the wall, but it has a really nice feeling, like with the expression and all, it feels like a person rather than static like some people do, and imo, getting the feeling down is tons more important.
so yeah, really cool.
sorry for commentary like I'm actually entitled to judge, I kinda suck at drawing so you're totally better than I am. >.> |

You've got quite a cool drawing style, the charcaol drawing kind of reminds me of like The Nightmare Before Christmas (just by the facial expressions, the way its drawn etc x] ) but both drawings also have a comic book style about them its pretty cool! (: |
