Hey! Well... um... Here are my poems! They're not that brilliant; but most of them aren't THAT bad. I used to write with tonnes of emotion- laden with alcohol or extreme tiredness. But I've eased up abit. Feel free to comment!
Thanks for reading!
Ravi
xoxo

[Dedicated to Meg and Conor, written quite a while ago]

"I'm Addicted To Coke"
[Just what it says on the tin. I had to tell some people. The most true poem I've ever written [apart from the ones to Kay]]

"Comerades. Lovers. ENEMIES."
Well, Well, Well. I wrote this one a while ago. My relationship wasn't in a brilliant state, and this was a day where I thought some particularly unsavoury thoughts. Instead; I wrote a poem. This is arguably the most boring poem of the lot; written after a long bout of poets block. The poem is dedicated to Megan and Conor because they were having a few problems at the same time, and it would have been SLIGHTLY selfish to dedicate it to myself.

"Thespian"
This one's a simple one. I'd completed three sell-out shows in the school production of "Bugsy Malone", playing the role of Fat Sam [yes, I do realise it's a big role in more than one sense]. The thing is; after the production we all felt empty. Everyone had made such good friends; and we had all bonded excellently. The "relationships" line is obviously a reference to my relationship at that point [things, again, weren't going smoothly]. All I can say is: THANK YOU EVERYONE IN BUGSY MALONE!

"Kay's Poem"
Hold on... is this... a positive bit in the relationship I see? YES! YES IT IS! I've written lots of poems for my love over the past nine months; but this, without doubt, is the most emotional. I can't remember if she cried after reading this [probably did], but this certainly wasn't the first; and definitely not the last!

"Mr Invisible [his confession and letter to her]"
AAAAAAAAAAAAnd we're back down again. This is quite recent; from only a few weeks ago [today is 18/6/08]. My girlfriend was going through alot, and I didn't feel listened to. In fact- before she went through alot; I didn't feel listened to. Conversations would always be about her, and it would always be here that came first. It's a strong poem; long, suicidal nights summed up in this, the only way I could get my feelings out properly while keeping it relevent.

"Simple Demands."
Another relationship poem; with a twist. The twist isn't actually that... err... twisty- It just contains some other people in it. I said to myself: "I wanna say how I feel again. But I've done it over and over, and It's getting on people's nerves! I know! I'LL JUST ADD OTHER PEOPLE!"
The result is kind of a shambles. All I can say is: I tried *shrug*

"Cancer Etched Memoirs"
Ah! Now THIS is a flashback. I remember sitting at this very PC, wondering what I would enter to the "Foyles Poetry" competition. I had no clue. I had come to the conclusion that I should tug on the judges heartstrings and write a poem about cancer [yes, I did get the idea from the song, TYVM]. I typed it out, a firm image of an elderly man with his dying wife was established in my head, and the rest, as they say, is history. Apart from the title. It started of as "Cancer", but that would have been blatant copying of the song, and would be instantly panned. It soon became: "My Lovers Memories and Cancer". This, I felt, was too long winded, and actually SUCKED. So I added a bit of the classy French in there- "Memoirs". I think it kinda works.

"Schizophrenia"
Heroes of Her Life. This brings back memories of band meetings in the school music room, just sitting about and having a joke. This was the first song I wrote; inspired by a segment on Radio Five Live's "Up All Night", in which it was shown that some person had created a room/place/house on "Second Life" that would show the symptoms of schizophrenia: A TV telling the user that [s]he needs to die, the mirror depicting the users face slowly dying and decaying. "This," I thought, "Needs to be written."
So I got to work, and wrote this song. My next band "HoHL" thought it was pretty good, and had we got anywhere, it would have been one of our first songs.
The band died; but my new band "Hearts for Hire" have made a new melody for it; and maybe there's life in the old dog yet Wink

"What Happened Vickie-Lynn"
Vickie-Lynn is Anna Nicole Smith's real name. Yes. THAT Anna Nicole Smith. I have no idea why I wrote this. She had died on the day of writing, and I decided to have a can of cider. This inspired my writing, and "What Happened Vickie-Lynn" came out; some kind of crazy cross between "Helena" and "I Don't Love You". This song was another one for "HoHL"- again, not making it. The other members didn't feel it was as good as "Schizophrenia", but it had "potential". So far, there are no new takers for this song.

"I'm Addicted To Coke"
Just an explanation of what it says on the tin Wink

Puberty!
Used this to respond to another poem on INO. Note the reference to Eddie Izzard in referring to the hair as like the "plague".

"Happy's with you, Suicide's with me [By god the dwarfs have changed]"
[AKA "You're gambling, sonny jim; but this is blackjack with bullets"]

With "Mr Invisible..." not working, things were getting desperate. No-one was listening, and I had slipped back to what I used to be; threatening suicide for nights on end. Kudos to her- she stayed with me. Every night, she just sat up and waited with me, made sure I didn't do anything. However- nothing was working. I didn't feel good at all, and I had made up my mind that I wanted to do this. The "Oh-dee" line in stanza three is a reference to one of her techniques- her guilt tripping me by threatening it herself. Somehow, it worked, and I'm still here today, loving her more than ever before.

You Just Hate Me Because I've Got Your Girl [You're not a mother; you're a friend]
This is basically the fall out from "Happy's with...". Kay's mother had heard her crying one night when I threatened to do IT; and had assumed that I was mistreating her. I got mad- if there are two things I can't stand, they are: A) Hurting my girl, and B) Being accused of hurting my girl. A week ago, her mother was in hospital, and Kay'd done some pretty bad things. She couldn't tell her mother for fear of a shock-relapse; and that wouldn't exactly help. But this is how I tried to tell my "mother in law" that I wasn't hurting the thing that is most precious to me.

Harare
This one is simple- it's basically a reflection on the current turmoil in Zimbabwe, from the point of view of a child. I was shocked and inspired by a graphic image on the news- A man was burning alive on a street, not being helped by anyone. My mind immediately sprang to his possible kids; and this was the result.

"Comerades. Lovers. ENEMIES."

This poem is dedicated to Meg and Conor

They say that all is fair in love and war,
The bullets echo for eternity,
Crimes against humanity; Crimes against the soul,
It builds us up and breaks us down.

“I love you once, I love you twice”,
Battle cries dawning from archaic man,
“I shall say again that I love you thrice”,
Daggers and arrows. X marks the target.

But here we are, one day forward,
I guess you could call it...
A ceasefire between the soldiers,
In a game of chess, reserved,
Only for the toughest.
Hostility is dead; It’s a wonderful life,
But like a volcano ‘tis on’y dormant,
It sits there waiting,
Hour by hour,
Second by second,
Minute by minute...

Then we’re back to square one.

The bombs start dropping,
We all start crying,
The ricochet of our ammunition affects the others we “love”.

We get closer, and nearer,
To our empires defeat.
We made each other who we are.
Comerades; enemies...
Loving each other to death.
We are the bullets.

Our love is the gun.

Thespian.

Excuse me a moment,
While I live in slow motion,
I live a flashback to the stage,
The cheering, the crowd, the laughter, the commotion.

Stride to center stage;
no-one knows who you are,
You'll do good, Kid!
You're gonna do far!

A distraction from life,
The relationships, the crises,
A haze for the problems,
Bringing us down to our knees.

Be someone else for once,
Take someones life by the throat,
Try it on, walk around,
Jump in the boat!

But when that curtain closes,
And the crowd calms down,
All that's left is a hole,
I'm gonna fall down.

The compliments,the work,
Disappear to a mist,
The limelight, center stage,
Will be sorely missed.

Kay's Poem

My mind is hazed,
Thoughts astray,
They lie with you,
Four thousand miles away.

I stare at some celluloid,
Memories of you,
My pupils dilate,
My brain is filled with you.

I burn and I ache,
For you are not in my sight,
I want to kiss you good-morning,
And tuck you in at night.

We can merely pretend,
Actions surrounded by stars,
Sending each other love-filled gifts,
We're so close, but cruelly, so far.

My heart beats for you,
The tears I shed sting my eyes,
I want the oxygen I breathe to faintly smell of your perfume,
When I'm with you, time flies.

When you say those three words,
When you dazzle me with your charms,
A smile flickers across my face; but I'm lonely,
I can't hold you in my arms.

If they open up my chest,
They'll find nothing there,
For my heart lies with you, babe,
No matter where.

You entrusted me with your heart,
And I've entrusted you with mine,
You own my body and soul, my dear,
Do not forget my mind.

“Will it ever happen?” I often ask,
“Will we ever meet and kiss?”
To be honest, there are times when I feel:
“Screw it, I'm done with this.”

But you have my loyalty,
And you have my love,
You are my angel,
From up above.

All the time you're in my head,
You've made my life bliss,
I long to feel,
Your soft embrace and kiss.

I love you now and I always will,
You will always have my heart,
But even after my heart stops beating,
We won't be driven apart.

I'll always love you,
Till the world bursts into flame,
But in your eyes, I'll never die,
I'll always live again.

Mr Invisible [His Letter and Confessions To Her]

Dear You,

I scream to try and get to your ears,
I'm dying to be seen,
But I can't put one two out of line,
I've gotta obey the queen.

To the crowd we're the epitome of sweet,
But we exit stage left to the wings,
Tearing guts and veins; shedding tears and skin,
You're still my everything.

When the curtains close, I'm no longer seen,
I'm the foundations to your list,
I can scream and shout; but a gun to my head:
Leave me in the mist.

But this is the part where I break tradition,
I'm not gonna play the game any more.
I'm Mr Invisible to you and I'll always be,
The blood is on your hands.

The crimson I shed leads to your heart;
The scissors lead to you,
But remember- we're merely players;
Who knew?

Maybe I'm facedown in a puddle of dreams,
Maybe you're just not the one.
But the blood I shed is for you.
Happy now? YOU WON.

Yours Sincerely, dead or alive,

Mr Invisible.

Simple Demands.

Demands make the world go round.

Hostage takers asking for squad cars and planes,
A mother wanting her kids home again.
A teacher expecting the best results,
Job interviewers wanting mature adults.
A football fan wishing for the win,
A devil expecting tonnes of sin.
A soldier wanting to be home,
Like a plant needs to be in some loam.

Demands may not be guaranteed;
Luck and consequences interfere,
but my demand is simple,
I want my baby here.

I haven't talked with her properly in months and days,
When we went through our loved up phaze;
No insults and curses;
Just sweet poetic verses.
No illnesses or deathly times,
No bad wishes or stupid crimes.

I miss the past; and I fear the future.
But the present's what scares me the most,
I wish she could help; and be here with me,
before I become a lonely ghost.

Cancer Etched Memoirs

I remember when,
Her lips caressed my cheek,
But now theres pain in her eyes,
So bitter and bleak.

Seconds and minutes,
And hours and days,
I see the wrinkles,
And the life waste away.

The fun and frolic,
Taken away from her life,
Shades of her former self,
Still keep the life.

While the disease eats away,
At her flesh and bones,
All I can do is watch,
Curse and condone.

Tomorrow's the day,
When she flies away,
I will be lifeless, loveless,
Solely shall I lay.

The black and white pictures,
The walks in the park,
The exchanging of rings,
All left in the dark.

The cancerous cells,
The tears in her eyes,
Fond, fading memories,
My silent cries.

Tomorrow's the day,
When she flies away,
I shall be weaker, yet stronger,
But solely shall I lay.

"Schizophrenia"

Chorus
I'm decaying in the mirror love,
My blood just ebbs away,
I'm a ticking time-bomb- can't you see?
I'm living in dismay,
Wow give me life and give me death,
and take just what you need,
Close my eyes and let me sleep,
Oh please just set me free.

V1
The doctor said there was no problem,
I'm totally right in the head,
But he can't see what I'm seeing,
GRANDPA I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!

I can't hear just what you're saying,
You're telling me to GO TO HELL!?
Someone bring me a bullet,
Sound that terrifying knell...

Chorus
I'm decaying in the mirror love,
My blood just ebbs away,
I'm a ticking time-bomb- can't you see?
I'm living in dismay,
Wow give me life and give me death,
and take just what you need,
Close my eyes and let me sleep,
Oh please just set me free.

V2
I cannot hide the bruises,
That expose my smithereened soul,
The guy in the class can't hear me,
HE'S JUST GONNA ROCK AND ROLL!

To the sound of his cremation march,
The TV told him so,
To slit his wrists and to hell,
HE SHALL GO!

Chorus
I'm decaying in the mirror love,
My blood just ebbs away,
I'm a ticking time-bomb- can't you see?
I'm living in dismay,
Wow give me life and give me death,
and take just what you need,
Close my eyes and let me sleep,
Oh please just set me free.

What Happened Vickie-Lynn

Chorus
What happened Vickie-Lynn,
What did all that gin do to you?
We didn't want you to die,
Thousands including I,
Its True.

V1
An interesting life,
viewed by millions in the dark,
You were known for your outside,
Not your interior spark.

Bridge
But now baby I have nothing better but to add,
But sympathies I really, just cannot mask.

Chorus
What happened Vickie-Lynn,
What did all that gin do to you?
We didn't want you to die,
Thousands including I,
Its True.

V2
Xanax and champagne,
Wasn't really the blame,
Who's the baby's father?,
The questions right and plain.

Bridge
But now baby I have nothing better but to add,
But sympathies I really, just cannot mask.

Chorus
What happened Vickie-Lynn,
What did all that gin do to you?
We didn't want you to die,
Thousands including I,
Its True.

Chorus
What happened Vickie-Lynn,
What did all that gin do to you?
We didn't want you to die,
Thousands including I,
Its True.
Its true, its true (ad. Lib.)

I'm Addicted to Coke

This is the first time I've said this;
No-one else has known;
But I might as well come clean,
I'll do this on my own.

I'm addicted to coke,
I love the buzz it gives,
It charges me up, never lets me down,
With it my spirit lives.

When I act upon the urge to consume,
I won't be able to sleep for hours,
Coke is an addictive substance, you see,
and it has massive powers.

Now my friend, if you're reading this,
I do not want you to worry.
For I do not mean the hard, malicious drug,
But I must buy the caffienated drink in a hurry!

Puberty.

Yes, you've finally reached that age;
You're turning another page;
Growing hair everywhere;
Wondering why the hell "that"'s there;
Noticing girls; acting cool;
Being naughty, bunking school;
And back on the subject of fluff;
The facial hair ain't that buff;
It's kinda crazy; looks like the plague,
To call it ugly would be vague,
Things growing that you didn't expect,
Being told off for "disresepect"
These are the golden years my friend;
And yes, they're hard to comprehend,
but it will all be over soon,
it teaches you alot- it's really a boon.

Happy's with you, Suicide's with me [By god the dwarfs have changed]
[AKA "You're gambling, sonny jim; but this is blackjack with bullets"]

They'll use the ace of spades to dig up my body,
If you'll be my queen of hearts,
Your eyes like diamonds saved me once;
But I'm not in the club no more.

Call me selfish; call me depressed;
But my head's against a wall,
A trash compactor for my thoughts,
And yet I can't let go.

You want to Oh-Dee,
Not for you but for me,
You want to risk your life,
For the sake of saving mine.

I tell you that if that's the only way,
You need to think again,
Reconsider your options,
But unknown to you,
It gives me the ass-kick I need.

I hear about your past,
The drugs, the pain, the shit,
and I'm jealous,
I missed out on so much; I couldn't save you.

You're trying to stop me from dying;
but there's one problem,
I'm dead.

Ello, great job you've done till now.
Amazing poems.
I've read the last one.

My favourite part:
Call me selfish; call me depressed;
But my head's against a wall,
A trash compactor for my thoughts,
And yet I can't let go.

It kust felt so filled with emotions, a very good one.
I'll return to read the rest after I get done with my thread =P.

You Just Hate Me Because I've Got Your Girl [You're not a mother; you're a friend]

You lay there on a gurney,
Blood seeping from your brain,
Neither me or her knew,
If you'd see light again.

We were both dead inside;
Screaming silent cries,
We ripped out our guts and screamed,
Tears glistened from our eyes.

We weren't to know that you'd get back,
We thought you'd sustained Mr Reapers attack,
We searched ourselves for a reason why,
God was so cruel; wanted you to die.

We hid inside a cave of emotion,
While you went on to cause commotion;
Whilst laying comatose,
In a hospital bed,
We thought you were dying,
In our morbid little heads.

We sat and we thought,
She smoked her lungs out,
She shoplifted, too,
At times she made me doubt.

But I still love her,
Don't you dare doubt that fact,
The moment I leave,
I write my suicide pact.

I know you've been hurt,
and I know you've been abused,
But don't pin this on me,
I'm not out to use.

I'm not one of your abusers,
And I'm not Scott,
If I turn into that,
You can give me a shot.

But don't you dare say that I hurt my girl,
She's my precious, beautiful pearl.

I really enjoyed reading this one, though I got lost a bit, I got back on track vey easily.
Really smooth flow of ideas, I like it so much, I dont' know but the whole Blood seeping from brains, and suicide, and attacks, and hospital beds. You showed them in the real way, the one that actually holds a true meaning.
