To me it sounds like someone he's loved has died, and he's just going through that period of depression, and feeling like everyones treating his sadness as a spectacle (sp?) [And did you come to stare, or wash away the blood?]

and also remebering the person.

Someone that a person cares about a lot has just died and they feel so alone and no one feels the way they do, everyone else sees it as a minor event, and they'll get over it.

I kinda got the feeling from these lyrics...

From backstage to the doctor,
From the earth to the morgue."

...that the song in a way kinda deals with Gerard's struggles with alcohol, and the way he would drink before shows and how it was killing him slowly.
Like that the first part of the lyric (i.e From the lights...) talks about the Gerard the fans were seeing, and the second part (i.e ...To the pavement) is about himself and, in this case, how he would go from the stage to completely breaking down.

I do think its about losing someone
Then going through a state of servere depression and acholic stuff
"did you come to stare or wash away the blood"
i think that has to be like talking about i dunno maybe cutting or something or wishing you could just die a bloody death in which everyone watches you
And then he tries to get over it for the sake of himself and everyone else he loves
and tries to just forget about it and get himself cleaned up

i think that the part "and did u come to stare or wash away the blood" is about the girl seeing and doing nothing for him just watching and thinking that there's no matter with them.

i think that Gerard is doing this like another tribute to his gramgram but he is like telling her what he's been through since shes been dead and like how he's fallen so much and when he says from the earth to the morgue he means leaving the earth is his old alcoholic and drugged self and entering the morgue to reach another spiritual point in his life is the brand new gerard trying to reach her better to sorta ask her to be closer in spirit

i think its Gerard's final way of saying goodbye to someone who died who he loved. like his last goodbye's. This song makes me very emotional (im not emo, just sad and inspired). i think he really loved this person, and its hard for him, but he wants them to know he's ok. And he'll carry on.

This song really helped me through a lost of a friend. I think this is when not everyone around you knows that the person died. His friends may not notice that something´s wrong. "Did you come to stare or wash away the blood" If your friends truely know you they should see that something´s wrong. They´re just looking at you and don´t get the pain you´re going through. Will you ask what´s wrong or will you just keep talking. When someone you love passes you start to think about death alot.

I always thought this was about Gerard and alcohol and drugs., i mean we all saw on LIFE ON THE MURDER SCENE how he fell to the pavenment to the floor lol. And i think he's saying are you just going to stare at me? or are you going to help me?

to me this song is about. death. "did u come to stare or wash away the blood" like if somone got murded you know theres alot of blood. There maybe somone fell "from the van to floor" and people are crowding around... like people ussuly do if somone falls and dies...

I always interpreted it to be about Gerard's drug/alcohol addiction:

From the streetlights (looking up), to the pavement (falling down, looking down),
From the van (when he'd get out of the van), to the floor (fall on the floor),
From backstage (he'd be suffering), to the doctor (was sick?)
From the earth (alive), to the morgue (dead).

Like, each line is a different step in the seriousness of his addiction...

I think it is Gerard Looking back on the path that he was taking and rethinking his life. Like how he would die and his spirit would be playing shows for other dead kids, people and things like that

...i think it is saying how in everyone of us there are 2 sides, the side that believes in love and life and the side that is defensive and destroys all things good becuase we are too scared to live and get hurt.

...how we absorb all the depressing things in life and begin go about life as a ghost, not really enjoying it or sensing it.

...we do this because we persuade ourselves that tomoro is another day and another chance to do what we wnat and that we have all the time in the world. this gives us time to find and easier way in life.

...to pass through all the obstacles to arrive at a place in our lives where we decide to ust sit and wait or decide to do something with our lives.

...whole chorus asking whether the realisation will ever come or will they just do what they are doing for themselves and fans that don't even realise the beauty of their lives and are more like dead. he can imagin what the world would be like if pl actually didi something meaning ful.

asking if we have all given up and 'fallen down' like them. like Gerard's alcoholism and depression while on tour forcing him to seek treatment and maybe even killing himself.

... last hitch excuse for why people do not live their lives because we think that whatever happens to us won't matter as we are all going to die anyway. so 'well after all, we are all going to die/fall'.
