According to Wikipedia evolution is the change in a population's inherited traits from generation to generation.

Of course not everyone believes in evolution though.

What your opinion,
Do you believe in evolution? Why?
Do you not?
If not what does your religion state happened instead of evolution?

I personally believe in evolution.
I mean. all the evidence points to it. and 'fullmeatalfreek' it takes time for thinsg to evolve. Things don't just change overnight. I mean. in maybe two hundred years things might show start of changing. but maybe in a hundred.

Evolution is a way big subject. And there are so many sides with it, more than the ones that are against it.

Actually there's pretty finite, fairly contemporary evidence of survival of the fittest, which is key to evolution. Before the Industrial Revolution in London, most moths were light-colored, because the brown ones were easy to pick off and got eaten by birds before reproducing. But when all the factories started polluting the air, the white moths were easier to pick out and the majority of the moth population ended up being brown. Now that there isn't as much pollution, white moths are in the majority again.

I do believe in evolution. What's the alternative? Intelligent design? Evolution doesn't cover everything, but it makes far more sense than that.

are you thinking about the Neandersomething people?
if you find an evoloution timeline you'll see many things in between human and monkey.

they all just died out or evolved into humans.

The basic idea of evolution doesn't require belief. It's a proven fact that most species evolved from a crude form into a more perfected form over the course of many thousands of years. Life is built to adapt to our surroundings, plain and simple.

The part where the theory gets fuzzy is humans. Half of the people believe humans have always been humans, evolving into more complex versions of ourselves. For example, cavemen (cro-magnon) slowly evolving into modern man (homo-erectus). This part is true, we have skeletons to prove it.

The other half believes that humans evolved up from apes or gorillas, due to genetic similarity in our DNA. There is no hard evidence, like a half-monkey half-human skeleton to prove it. There are strong similarities, but not enough to actually prove it true. That's what's often referred to as the "missing link".

This theory can seem offensive to people because 1) no one likes to think of themselves distantly related to gorillas and 2) people of faith strongly believe that God created humans and monkeys separately.

Personally, I'm a supporter of theistic evolution, the view that God creates all living things through the evolution process. I don't like to wave the Bible around as fact, more of a story meant for teaching and learning, not necessarily as scientific evidence. I think the book of Genesis is far more allegorical, that factual.

^But if we're very similar species then we must have a fairly recent common ancestor (more recent than us and fish or dogs or birds). So at one point there must have been a monkey-type-thing, one population of which diverged eventually into humans and the other into other modern apes. Based on the idea that all life came from an original common ancestor, we're related to all living animals, but more closely to those in the family Homindae. It's not that we evolved from apes, just from the same species other apes evolved from.

I believe in creation and evolution.
I believe that God created the earth, animals, and people.
I believe that we have evolved.
Animals constantly evolve and create new species.
Humans are simply animals.

You can find ALL of Darwin's work online, the entirity of both his books. Monkeys only has a SMALL subsection in Darwin's first works, it';s actually rather irrelevent.

I do believe in Evolution, it's around us and there plenty of evidence to support the theory. Correct me if you may, but average humans have increased height withing the past centuries.

Actually, the reason we increased height is because we're healthier. If you are malnutritioned, then you won't reach your full height. I do believe in evolution, but I'm just saying...

I believe in evolution. I do not think it is possible for someone, like god
to just poof people, animals, bugs etc. onto this earth. Evolution is the
mostly the only explanation why we, people, look so much like apes and monkeys.

I'm not a very religious person, so I have a hard time believing in God.
I mean. If God does exist, how did he come to be?
There's no logical explanation for that.
And evolution is all about logic, based on logic.
We can prove that we evolved from monkeys and such
but can we prove there's someone greater than us,
who started making us?
And even though people believe in both, I remember hearing about how many Christian people won't believe in evolution.
I mean. some religions actually brings something more reasonable to believe, but I'm not looking into that.

I believe in evolution but i also believe in God.
I think some people who claim evolution never happened are just ignorant on the subject. They automatically judge something they don't know.
I think God created us to evolve.

Blockhead; it's called faith. Many people base, or minorly base their lifes based on faith. It's not about it being there for fact, but having the belief that there is exsistence...proof or no proof.

^So then how do you account for dinosaurs? The Lucy fossil? I don't understand how a person can honestly take into account all the evidence supporting evolution and dismiss it so easily.
