January Scars

This fragment of time still cuts;
I bleed.
Staining red your once
sapphire eyes,
now dark to all the world.
I plead;
that these January scars will
fade away.
But my heart still clings to
this memory.
And your ghost remains
with me.
Relentlessly.

I love the subtle rhyming in this one. The theme is simple enough but you managed to add your own twist to it which I think is brill. Looking forward to your next piece. (:

A/N: I wrote this one after a particularly boring day at work...

Ode to day jobs

Staring at the screen
time drags sluggishly on
larthargic like the morning after.
Eyelids droop, pixels blur.
3.30 numbs the mind,
abrogating intellect
famishing the soul.
Reverie calls.
Drift away upon an etheral sea,
a swirl of long forgotten dreams
submerge yourself in whimsey
but a while-
manogomy returns soon enough.

Endlessly, she said.

As giddy young hearts fell
Cupid's arrow flew amiss
piercing breasts not meant to tumble
so hopelessly in love.
But they could not perceive
the flaw in their affections,
or see the stars that crossed that night.

Blindly infatuated, they loved without restraint;
cascading to the floor.
Abandoning any vestige of reason
they surrendered their hearts
vowing their lives be bound as one.
It was Eros' little joke
to keep them to their word
when clarity jepardized gooey-eyes
and exposed their flaws.

Now he remembers her eternal kiss
when the taste was still sweet.
And her lips were not yet stale,
acrid like the words she repeats:
"I will be with you, endlessly."

Sometimes I wonder;
does the pain ever really end
or do we just get used to the acrid taste of heartache?
Do the icy prisons that enslave our hearts ever thaw
or do we eventually just become numb?
And hold a hand of the cavity in our chest
where once a heart beat; full of life.

A/N: it's been a while...this is a bit of a different style. Let me know what you think.

A/N: just a quickie. I'm trying my hand at a little free verse and 'stream of consciousness' poetry for something new.
let me know what you think.
c/c would be appreciated.

Am i just wasting my time?

I don't believe you
when you say it never mattered
but don't believe me
when I say this doesn't matter
I need a reason
but you always play the fool.
Are you my fool?

A/N: This was written after watching the Ang Lee film of the same name. c/c would be appreciated.

Lust, Caution
These cries muffled against
your pillow are
half passion
half despair.
as the line blurs
between pretense
and the only truth I’ve known
Are you my lover or my enemy?
And now these dice are thrown
wnd we see what I’ve become
will these lips be your downfall
or mine?
I’ll promise just one thing
and seal it with a kiss
that will be the death of one of us.
