I was a thespian and musical theatre major in middle school,
and I was in one school musical, in middle school,
that was "Once on this island".

But outside of school, I do community theatre stuff,
I'm actually about to audition for "Reefer Madness" in a couple of days,
I'm kind of excited, since it's been over a year since I've done a musical.
I hope I'm not too out of it.

Funny thing happened to me once. I had one of my community theatre shows to do, and I was a maid in "Annie Warbucks", so I had the maid uniform that I had to wear as my costume, and it's about thirty minutes until curtain and I look down and notice that my white blouse is see-through and I'm wearing an extremely bright colored bra. I run to the costume manager to tell her so we can try to fix it, and she doesn't have anything to help. So she mentions there's a store next door. So we run out of the theater and into this store, and she actually buys me this bra and undies set thing, both white, and I had to run back to the theater and change into that, and then run onto the stage to do the opening number.
That was just one story that came into my head for some reason, though I've had a lot of crazy things happen. xD

^Nice.

As a freshman, me and two other guys walked on with melons to offer to the Countess as Wedding presents. By closing night they were so over-ripe/rotten that they were literally sinking into our fingers on stage. lol.

I don't have to many personal stories, as up untill now I've only had minor roles. Here are some of the Legends that have happened within the past few years at my school:

A when a friend of mine was a sophomore, he missed his que by 15 minutes. The two actors on stage waiting for his entrence had to invent a new scene before sone kids could push him on. Needless to say, from now on missing a que has always been named after him.

My Sophmore year, the two leads were fighting in a secne and Pertruquio's beard started falling off so Kate walked up and ripped it off.

Junior Year, about 1/3 of the way through our show of Once Upon A Matteress, we had a total blackout. No electricity of any kind untill the 50year old generator kicked in and sounded like 20 lawn moweres. For the first time in my school's histroy a show was stopped and reschedualed. We were all running around backstage screaming "Fucking Holy Shit Fuck!" trying to change out of our costumes in the dark. Ahh the memories~ Rex

"Kiss Me Kate" as Ensemble

I love that play [/spam]

I've done tech before. Almost got set on fire :O. I was blowing drying some paint on a set, using an old blow dryer, and it randomly shut off. I unplugged it, and then plugged it back in to get it to work, and it started sparking all over the place. Luckily it didn't catch my clothes on fire.

I so wish I could. Several years ago the theatre magnet at my school where invited to perform in it, and went there. I wish we could do that again. But my city has a local fringe festival that they do. I was in it this year. Super duper fun stuff.
As far as other stuff, I've mostly only had small parts.
School:
Freshman year:
Who Killed Black Pride? - Dirty Rumor
Cinderella - crew
Crush - Gunner number 2
Let Him Sleep Till It's Time for his Funeral - crew
Ninja of the Night - Ninja Turtle (I think I was Michelangelo)

Sophomore year:
Streetcar Named Desire - crew
The Wiz - chorus
The True Story of an Actor - Agent Lewis
Schuyller'sville.com - Nannette Bodine
Stockmarket Dog - Broadway Cat

Junior year:
Fame Forever - Lighting Designer/Light Tech (hopefully)

Local Young Actors Theatre:
the Mom and Annalee in the one act Skid Marks
Extra in Splendor in the Grass
Linda in the one act Check Please

Crazy stories:
Early in the day on the opening day of The Wiz a fly rail professional came in to inspect our fly rails. He found one that he didn't think was safe to use so he chained it and locked it. It was the wiz's mask. So come show time we're frantically trying to get the thing off. We called our teacher but she didn't answer her phone. We have no idea what to do. And then someone goes to the shop, gets a huge pliers/wrench and breaks the stupid thing. Ah good times.

I actually knocked myself out on the set of Oliver Twist at school.
I was running behind the backdrop to get to the left wing as I'd already missed my que to be on stage.
Next thing I know I was in the Nurses Room as my eyeball has been pushed back.
Turns out, as I was running behind the set I ran into this metal reel that was attatched to the wall that was holding up the backdrop.
The metal reel thingy had barbed wire wrapped around it that also had some thing to do with the backdrop.

Well anyways, as I smashed my face into it, the barbed wire cut my eye and my eyeball went back, only a little bit, into my head.
Half of my face swelled up to like the size of a balloon.
It was quite bad, really.

I'm a Drama teacher and am responsible for our school shows. We did Olivier in 2005, Bugsy Malone in 2006 and Wizard of Oz in 2007. We're doing Mary Poppins in February. XD

There is nothing quite like doing a school show.

Break A Leg!

I'm just so happy with the new casting at my school. As a God in "the Good Person of Sichuan" I actually have a substantial role: 40 lines and two songs/rhymes. Really I have more lines in the prelude alone than twice I've ever had so far.

And my Senior class is gonna rock at being leaders. The last two classes didn't do the best at following through.

Do any of you guys have any time honored traditions? Here are a few of mine:

-After every rehearsal, we have Hugs where everyone hugs everyone else
-First musical cast party those who have already done a musical initiate the new comers by making them embrace themselves in public
-30min before curtain we all play theatre games backstage
-5min before curtain we link hands and "Pass the Squeeze"
-The Seniors have meetings and divide up the underclassmen. Each Senior gets two or three and they are their "Senior Angels" who secretly hand out candy and words of inspiration, and are then unveiled on Opening Night
-A really old one is to go out and eat at a tiny Chinese restaurant before techweek
-Another really old one is for all the Guys to hold intermission parties, we all go into the guys dressing room, sing the intermission song then blast music and bang the ceiling.
-Opening night all of crew toasts with Spreker Root Beer
-Last Year on Closing Night most of the guys went commando...All I can say is "tights REALLY itch
-Closing Night we all arrive a good three hours early and sit on the stage in a circle. We all give first impressions of people in the circle, some of which go back to kindergarten. At the end all the seniors sit on the edge of the stage, with everyone else in the audience and say their Senior goodbyes to the theatre, which is always funny and emotional. After that we hug everyone and may sing a song together.
-Closing Night Curtain the Seniors are given a Senior bow and allowed to kiss the stage.

That's actually a really cool tradition.

One tradition in my theatre that I can think of is the "Saturday Matinee" prank.
Every year, for the spring musical, cast and crew members pick the freshman they least like and on Saturday night, all give her shit about missing the "Saturday Matinee" that never actually happened. It's quite cruel, actually. This year's victim nearly ran away. My school's very anti-freshmen, especially in the theatre department.

Anyway, this year for our fall show, we're doing "Rimers of Eldritch" and I'm trying out at the end of the month. There are 10 female roles, at least 2 that are younger, so I'm pretty hopeful that I'll get one.

I'm getting my bachelors in theatre (if all goes according to plan) and designed the costumes for one of our playwrighting graduates thesis last semester.
It was questioning stereotypes about homosexuals, and Speedos made it into my design. I couldn't find a swimsuit anywhere in town that could fit my budget though, until I stopped by an "adult" shop in town. They had knock-off Speedos, and I knew exactly what size to buy and had them held at the counter for me. But I had to return with a member of the faculty to purchase them or wait around to be reimbursed. (And I doubted the school would reimburse me for anything bought in an adult boutique.)
I could have died when an instructor came with me to purchase them and commented that her husband loved the store, and then asked if I would wait a second at the counter while she went to look at something.
Mortification at the awkwardness of the situation and horror that my parents might drive past and see my car parked outside.

OH I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE MADE THIS THREAD.
Theatre is what I do, babyboo.
So far I've been in:

2008:
Sherlock Holmes--"Sid Prince" (we just started practice.)
Wizard of Oz--"Jitterbug/Ozian"
Razzle Dazzle Revue--"Little Red Riding Hood/You Can't Stop The Beat "
Coffee With God--tech (one act)

2007:
Little Women--"Jo March" (lead)
Beauty and the Beast--"Company/Fork"
The Picture That Was Turned To The Wall--"Jubliee Tubbs" (lead)
Act III, Scene VI.--tech (one act)

2006:
Fiddler on the Roof--"Shprintze"
The Hobbit--"Dori"
The Music Man--"Company/Pick-a-Little Ladies"
The Boardinghouse--"Tweenie"

2005:
Annie--"Lily St. Regis"

Uhhhh....that's all I can remember for now.

This summer I had some individual practicum classes through the college and I also won a place in our city's mentorship program. For a few years I was in a Drama Group that would pull out a coulpe plays a year and also attended a summer MAD (music, arts, drama) camp.

I'm currently working on exanding my range as an actress by learning more accents and, as shown above, taking on a male role.

Oh my, I just remembered.
This summer during The Wizard of Oz, I got sick the opening week. On the last night of that weekend, I was feeling really faint and I ended up tripping during the cyclone scene.
Backstage I had to lay down and cover myself with towels and put an ice pack on my face because my body was freezing and my face was buring. I was able to make it for the Jitterbug scene, but it was pretty bad.
When I got home, I found I had a temperature of 102.
Yikes.

Also during Oz, Charle, the dog who played Toto, decided to take a shit on the stage during a performance right in the middle of Mucnkinland.

The lady we got to play Golde in Fiddler was absolutely crazy. Not even in the good way, though. I was her daughter and so I spent a lot of time in the same scenes as her. She'd put her hands on me in uncomfortable ways and some people and I ended up talking to our director. She was totally unstable. We found out a few months after we closed that she checked into a looney bin.

I know we had a bajillion plays before.
I remember being Albus Dumbledore in this one play I directed for Harry Potter because my Dumbledore called in sick or something.

I know we were also supposed to do a broadway this year, but apparently we're not going to push through, and that completely made me miserable.

Everyone else has done so much! I've only done...

The Chrysalids, as a Fringe person [Year 7 - making me 12]
Lord Of The Flies, as a savage [Year 8 - I was 13]
Midsummer Night's Dream, as Francis Flute [Year 9 - aged 14]

I've done four small showcases with drama groups in the past three years, a few dance shows when I was younger, and I'm about to start backstage work on Rock Challenge dance show at my school.

in pre-K, I was the Grumpy Sheep in the nativity play (of the same name), and until 5th grade, I was still 'the grumpy sheep'.
In 3rd grade, I helped write the script, and I acted as well, which meant wearing blue trunks, and being a wave. (The 12 Rights of Children aka The Next Generation)
I was the narrator in my 4th grade play (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), and I fell off the stage. and they didn't have any ballet shoes big enough, so I had to wear just black socks. oh, and I was in the Pharoes Chorus, so I had to wear a dress thing...

after that I didn't act much. I almost auditioned for this years production of Guys and Dolls, but I don't sing, so it would be pointless

i have lots of theater experience.

it all started in first grade when we did a christmas production of which i do not remember the name.
all i remember is that i got a speaking role. i was a christmas tree and i tried to get the rest of the christmas trees to stop fighting.

in third grade i did Beauty and The Beast with a local children's theater. I was a peasent, a person at the masquerade, and a spoon.

the summer after third grade i was in a summer program of a show called 'To Bee or Not To Bee'. it was about bee's. i was a spelling bee. i had to spell 'ensemble'.

i started chorus in fourth grade and in elementery school it was the chorus that did the musical or whatever so we did a musical called "we hazz jazz".

the summer after fourth grade i did a summer program where we did 'school daze'
i was 'tony'. i sang a solo/duet. it switched between the two..

Then in fifth grade we did noe called "ROCK!" which showed the evolution of rock.
i was the hippy. once again, the peaceful one that tried to make everyone get along.

in middle school we put on shows that were written entirely by the seventh grade chorus teacher. they were actually pretty good. i missed auditions for "boxsations"in sixth grade, but i got to be in the "boxmagical clarinet choir" so i was still part of the show.

in seventh grade we put on "journey to the center of the word"
yes, word, not world.
i was 'the chapperone'. which was a lead. i had around 40 lines. (yea, i counted.)

the summer before 8th grade i was in a Harry Potter play. we all wrote the show together and put it on. I was Hermione.

in 8th grade we did 'Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat.'
i was a wife. just a step down from the narrarators.

during the winter in 8th grade i did 'Grease' with the children's theater.
i was one of Rizzo's friends.

the summer before ninth grade i was in 'School House Rock'
I got the solo for the song 'interplanet janet'.

and just two days ago i got the new that i made the highschool's prduction of Beauty and The Beast.
being a ninth grade i can only get na ensemble role.
I am a napkin.

that's about it i think.

- At the end all the seniors sit on the edge of the stage, with everyone else in the audience and say their Senior goodbyes to the theatre, which is always funny and emotional.

We also do something similar to this called senior circle. At the end of the year we get together and the seniors all say goodbyes and pass down other theatre traditions, like the ring of sparkly acting ability, the theatre bracelets, and a golden mannequin head is passed down to the freshman with the most talent/potential.

We also have theatre siblings. At the beginning of the year seniors are matched up with freshmen (sometimes juniors get a freshmen if theirs not enough seniors) and they become sorta anonymous pen-pals. The seniors help the freshmen get adjusted to high school and everything then we have a theatre picnic and the freshmen find out who their older 'siblings' are. Usually theatre siblings remain really close and end up being good friends.
Unfortunately we didn't do theatre siblings this year, which is very upsetting. I would have gotten to have a theatre sibling(5 seniors, 14 freshmen so they would have needed some juniors) and I was really looking forward to it.

It seems like a lot of really important tradition are being broken this year.
