As adults they reproduce which is why the ancestors are all adults and why vriska was so fascinated by mindfang's dirty diary. That's how I understood it at least. |

Well in the conversation Karkat had with Terezi about Gamzee, he said something about auspistisising between Kanaya and Rose, who were matesprits, so that Kanaya would be able to auspistisise between Terezi and Gamzee. So I don't think it's exclusive to black, but can be used for red as well, if needed. |
