Age: 38 Gender: Female Posts: 56 | November 22nd, 2006 at 08:45pm two of my friends moved away last year (they were brothers) and i hadn't talked to them in a really long time. well, one day i got this random call from aidan; he told me that Brehnon (his older brother) had been shot and killed. he died on valentines day, right after proposing to his girlfriend. he was shot over a silly mistake in the alleyway behind the restaurant where they were. and one of their best friends was the one that got Brehnon killed. two days after brehnon died, mariah (his gf/fiance) shot herself.
i really hope my chem doesn't support gun violence. i lost a very very close friend because of it. |

They just talk about morbid / killing stuff because it represents all the shit they've been through, and how it's affected them.
It's a metaphor to use guns / violence. |

its a question a person wants to ask people's opinions. let the person's curiosity wander. |

Ah wouldnae av thought aboot it. (sorry. Been reading 'Trainspotting' and now my brain is in Scottish speed-freak/smackhead mode.)
ah ha ha ha!!! me too! glad to see i'm not the only one who seems to be having that problem! i keep slipping it into casual convosation. the damn accent won't leave me alone! i left an entire comment on my friend's myspace talking like that!
anyway, yeah it's a good question. i think they like the aesthetic quality due to comics and what have you. but other than that, no, i don't think they support it. just look at Teenagers, that's about teens and gun violence. i really don't think they support it. good question tho! |
Darkened Angel Salute You in Your Grave
Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 2364 | November 23rd, 2006 at 09:31am I really don't think they support it, the guns/killing/violence like the vampires, are just metaphors for a deeper meaning like what someone said earlier about all the sh*t they went through.
And yeah, if they supported gun violence I'm sure we would've picked up on it way earlier. |

I don't think they do, cause they want to save people's lives, not have them hurt. |
~Frankie'sGirl~ Killjoy
Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 47 | December 10th, 2006 at 04:24pm A lot of thier stuff is about the devistating effects of gun violence, so I would say definatly not. They are showing the tormented soul side of gun violence, not the "oh wow, look at the blood and guts and gore. wow that's great" side of gun violence. |
Mad World. Shotgun Sinner
Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 9672 | December 11th, 2006 at 11:13am I have to say absolutely not, but I can see how it would be taken the wrong way. Their images of weapons were not extremely prominent until Revenge was released, and I'm sure this is a direct influence of the story the album tells.
I also think that guns can be translated into a symbol of power. I have seen/held guns on numerous occassions, and that's the only way to describe it. You just get this terrifying feeling of power. You're holding something that could allow you to play god, and end lives on a whim. It's a really scary thing. So for me, the guns represent power in a way, not necessarily death, murder, etc. |

I think not. since they always encourage hteir fans not to hurt themselves I'm sure they don't want us to go shooting each other
Of course they don't want us to go killing ourselves or shooting each other...
If that happened...
No one would be around to buy their records!
I just love making fun of serious topics.
Also, it's so obvious that they don't support violence - gun related or not. |
