Why does it happen?
Why declare war on a people you want to help?
What do you guys think? |

I was amazed at how much the media is biased to only showing the cons of the things going on in Iraq. During the documentary, they showed how an astounding amount of Iraqi homes now have electricity and running water. It showed soldiers giving candy to Iraqi children and getting shot and killed by insurgents in the process.
The media never reports on the positive things going on over there, only the negative things.
I'm not saying that the war is good or necessary, but the media is incredibly biased. |

They only want the oil.
Some houses may have electricity, but what about the hundreds of thousands that don't?
I've talked to some of the people that actually go into the street at shoot at the soilders,
the answer was "We're shooting at them, because they shouldn't be here".
So my conclusion is, get the fuck out of my country,
because being there is not helping anyone, not the civilians, nor the soldiers. |

You are so right. There are currently soldiers from my country in Iraq and this drives me crazy. A year or so ago, when 3 of our journalists were kidnapped, the government was given 2 choices: either to make our troops get out Iraq and then they let the journalists go , or to leave or soldiers in Iraq , but then the journalists would be killed. And the president kept saying we cannot let out troops leave Iraq. And I was like: WHY T F NOT????????? |

Exactly. What are we (I'm American) fighting against? It's like what I said earlier. Operation Iraqi Freedom shouldn't involve troops and killing. That's not liberating anyone. We overthrew Saddam Hussein. Now we should withdraw. If the Iraqi people are still having problems, then we should step in and help them set up a government or weed out Hussein's followers and other terrorists. |

Age: 38 Gender: Male Posts: 31690 | May 30th, 2006 at 06:42pm I'm American also, and I just feel like it's pointless. There is a senior graduating this year who I know and think is funny. He's going off to fight, and it scares me. I have a cousin or something in the military, but I don't really know her. I don't want to find out that these people or anyone else has died fighting this war. |

That brings me to another issue that I might start a thread for. I will never ever join the U.S. military because it doesn't give men and women equal rights. A woman has a right to defend her country and home as well as a man. So why can't women fight in direct combat? We're just as capable. It just doesn't make sense. |

I mean, the war is fucking pointless! And I hate George Bush because he's a fucking air-head. He shouldn't be watching a dog, let alone a whole country. |

Or so President Bush said on May 1, 2003. Not that we should ever believe a politician. |

The Iraqis don't even want to fight us! It's not even a conflict between my country and Iraq, it's my country intruding on Iraq and so they have to defend themselves. |
