How do I add + use textures and brushes in GIMP? I know how to do this in PS, but I am thinking there's a different way to do it in GIMP...?
If someone could help me, that would be great. |

for textures is just like photoshop. You download them and extract them from their zip file. Then just save it onto a folder like "texture" and then you open it on gimp and you copy and paste it on your icons and try different blend modes to see which one suits best.
for brushes, I'm guessing you download the brushes that are capable with gimp and then you extract them from the file onto your desktop. and you would have to go to c: drive>program files>gimp>brushes and add them there just like you would with photoshop. and then restart gimp and they should show up. |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 4054 | August 3rd, 2008 at 05:08am ^^yeah i think i got a little crazy with the smudge tool. xD
well, i read a bunch of tutorials, and i've found the best way is to draw out the main way you want the hair with a darker color, smudge the ends until it looks like it's laying naturally, use the dodge tool on midtones, around 20-30% with a circle brush around 1-3 diameter, and draw out the stands like that.
you can use the dodge and burn tool to add shadows and light, but i haven't figure that out yet, lolz. |

Ah, I've been using one for a couple days now, kind've addicted to it. Here's a whole page of vintage tuts.
This is the tutorial I used for the image below.
Haven't used photoshop in a while, and it's a little sloppy in some places, but c&c on this? The original was little, not much I could do about it, and it wasn't the best quality. But eh.
