i was like 'hell no its a guy duhh!!'
kid: 'ewwwww he is sooo ugly omg he is so ugly ew!!!'
me: wtf NOO!!!!

then i put on the helena video and when helena started dancing he asked me if she was a guy or a girl.....that kid has a problem.....
oh and at school some random picked up my pencil case (which has The Black Parade written on the back hugely)
random:'the black parade...thats a sucky song by my chemical romance'
me:'no it isnt and by the way my chemical romance are the best band ever'
friend: 'its an album'

oh and this is when i was playing helena to my freak brother who listens to classical music (seriously)

Another funny thing, after a while, like around when Teenagers came out, HE started liking them. And he's BLAMING it on my running obsession. Not even THANKING me, BLAMING me. What a male-teenie. I wonder why I keep him around as my friend sometimes. |

I was working, and wearing my MCR hoodie cause I was cold. (I'm a bartender) He come to my bar, tell me to make him a drink, and while I'm shaking it, he asks me what kind of music I listen to. I say:
"My Chemical Romance.."
(Don't even get to say any other bands before he stops me)
He looks at me, gets a really sad face and says:
"OMG. I thougt you were punk."
I didn't know what to say.. yeah, so the wierdest reaction ever. |

Same here about not exactly fitting the stereotype. I haven't really had to deal with reactions yet since I don't proudly flaunt that I'm a fan. Well, I've had school uniforms all my life, so...xD Let's see what happens next year... |

One day in gym, I overheard some people talking about Bamboozle and how MCR sucked. I don't know if they did this deliberately because I was wearing a Bamboozle T-shirt or not, but I joined the conversation, saying that they had three band members sick and I was there; they played very well. They disagreed, and started lashing out, saying even louder and bringing in more people to say, "MCR sucks! They're the worst band ever!"
I walked quicker off the field, my fists clenched and I was biting my tongue. The people walked by me again, still trying to get me angry, and started saying once more, "MCR sucks!" It hurt worse than I thought it would.
Off the field and closer to the gymnasium, a kid who I thought cared, because he told the school that I was cutting in the beginning of the year, started screaming, "MCR SUCKS! THEY'RE FAGGOTS AND THEY'RE ALL GAY ASSES! THEY MAKE YOU CUT YOUR WRISTS, just like you do, Sam. THEY'RE SO EMO!" I turned around and screamed back, "Fuck off!" and then walked faster back to the gym.
That kid didn't do gym for the rest of the year, and I left the locker room in near tears. |

Posts: 37 | July 28th, 2007 at 10:07am ^^Aw, that really sucks :s. Don't let it get to you though.. you like them, they don't, and no one's opinion matters other than yours. If liking your band still makes you feel the same way you always feel about liking your band, you'll be okay  .
I've suprisingly never had too much trouble. I guess mostly cause I don't buy too much merch or walk around with their shirts. And at school there are actually a good handful of people a ton of a lot more scene than I am, so overall the whole "emo" crap is kinda accepted there. At my town it's actually pretty okay to like "emo" bands in general. Like I've seen people working at Hot Topic that are really into MCR, which is great  . I was suprised too, cause I always thought that in the US there was always someone dissing you for liking a band, but I've been pretty lucky. At my old school though, I was the only one into rock, so people would bother me a bit about that, but not too harsh about it either. Though the worst was when a guy asked me if I did drugs, that pissed the hell out of me.
Anyway, back on MCR, just 2 incidents really. The first was when The Black Parade had just been figured out, and out of excitement I put "The Black Parade" in my screename in MSN. Then this english dude that had added me a few years before but never talked to me said,
Dude: "take that off, the black parade sucks, my chemical romance are the worst band ever..." and stuff like that.. I was fuming at this point, but I tried to keep my cool and answered,
Me: "I'm assuming you've had a bad day"
Dude: "Yep, just got back from rugby practice"
Dude: "anyways scenester, do you know if muse will be touring with them? they're both their top friends on myspace. I really hope not."
Me: "not as far as I know."
Me: "come back some other day when you're not so grumpy. then we can talk about musical tastes."
And he hasn't come back, lol.
More recently, it wasn't quite as bad cause it was a really close friend of mine. I put up a picture of myself on MySpace, and another friend commented "nice face expressions, semi-gerard way." And this close friend of mine also posted (most probably because of the previous comment, besides the fact that I was wearing red and black, and the fact that he hates the band, lol), "HAHA, stole your pic!! How does your MCR-listening ass like that!!" lol, I actually got a few laughs out of that. |
