and Xx.Harlequin.Girl.xX, did you go to the denver performance? i would have, but that was before i knew anything about decent music... so i didnt go...
Also, I know it's not exactly a band or anything but I think a lot of hip-hop sounds bad live, (noet I said a lot of, not all of,) and the rap parts just sound like shouting.
Maybe I shouldn't judge because of MTV, but most of the live performances I've seen there's shouting and singing along to the recorded version of the chorous.
Maybe it's better if you're actually there.
I think it's personal taste, though, because some people really dig that kind of stuff.
When I seen Cartel at the HOB in new Orleans they were really bad. They did try to make any connection with the audience, just seem like they were standing there in one place playing.
My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco all were REALLY bad live, especially back before they got so big and FOB's VMA performance was bad, It's like the all got stage fright.
I heard some live videos recently though and all have seemed to have improved a great deal over the past few years.
Also the Explosions were pretty bad but when I saw them they were just one of the pre-shows really so they weren't meant to sound as good as the main band so everything was turned down a bit but you still couldn't tell one song from another because you could hardly hear anything with all the sounds really just meshing together, blurry...
Rise Against. Well maybe just at the nassau colliseum. The drums were too loud and the singer tried to scream more to compensate for lack of singing, and it didn't work so well...
I was at that concert too (*High 5ulation*) & the fact that the lead singer kept going to the side to put on his guitar & then midway throught the song and take it off...Vice Versa was so damn annoying...Either leave it on or take it off...Idk if other bands do that but it annoyed me...
I can't really think of a band whose whole performance sucked though...

The 2006 VMAs? I think you may be thinking of Panic! At the Disco
