Just curious on people's views on it.

I don't know what sort of discussion can arise, but im interested in waking up to hear some opinions on it, as per what you think of it morally, and legally.

Im off for tonight <3

To start off, of course I think it's incredibly wrong and scary to know there are cannibals out there.

I'll edit my post and branch out on this tomorrow, but until then, I'm off.

well... i'm going to post this an be off too...

it's wrong... and it makes me think of willy wonka and the chocolate factory... i think the only reason that should even be considered is if it's absolutely necessary for survival and the person's already dead... which is highly unlikely... so... in the overwhelming majority of cases... it should not happen....

I cannot blame the people who eat others to survive. Or the Amazon indians who have done so for centuries and see no wrong in doing so. Their world is so far apart from the world we live in, it's impossible to start judging them and their cultures based on what we think is the right way to live.

For the sickos who kill and eat each other in the Western society... Well, it's quite clear that they have got serious problems. Just the fact that you take someone else's life is wrong, let alone the fact that you go ahead and eat them afterwards. I believe most of the people who do this have been diagnosed with serious mental illnesses, as no-one in their right mind would be doing that. It's wrong, no matter what way you look at it.

should only be done if for survivol. thats my view.

if we were like the animal kingdom we'de have no problem with eating each other would we??

yet humans have been known to revert back to a primate state in some situations, havent they???

its only due to evolution and society that most see this as wrong (good thing).

I have heard of some cultures doing it for religious reasons, but the stories I have heard consist of a person who is already dead. They see it as a way to "consume" their strengths, or in some cases, to entrap an evil spirit. It was on a documentary I saw many years ago, so the details are sketchy to me.

To eat a human that is dead in order to sustain life is something I would do. I wouldn't be proud of it and brag to people, but sometimes you need to do what you can to survive. Of course this would only pertain to extreme cases.

Since we are governed by a democracy and there is a separation of church and state here in the USA, killing someone for religious reasons (or killing someone in general) is not acceptable. For instance people in other countries who are governed by a tribe, may kill someone and "get away" with it. In other countries it is leagal to kill a woman who has an extra-marital affair.

Okay. Cannibalism is really wrong. Though we see it in other animals in the animal kingdom, it doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. I mean, killing a fellow human and eating his insides and stuff? It's just so wrong. For survival? I don't thing so. I'd rather die of hunger than eat my companion's guts.

It's like saying we should eat our poop like some dogs in the world do.

With all due respect, you don't know what you'd do in a situation where it's die of hunger vs. eat a person--none of us do.

Besides, this depends on what you define cannibalism as. In a situation where it's a matter of survival, I don't blame anyone for doing it.

In a situation where it's a tribal custom--i.e., someone dies and their descendents consume their body as a method of reverence and dealing with the remains--I don't think that's wrong either.

Obviously in a Jeffery Dahmer type scenario, it's twisted and disgusting. I guess to me motive and situation defines when it's wrong and when it's not.

If I was on a desert island & i had to eat, and the other person died of starvation, the choice is obvious. But I'd probably be sick before I did it.

But for a fetish or part of normal life? Nuh-uh.No It's gross & we're not meant to eat each other. Simple as.

i don't find cannibalism bad. why? because thats just life people can eat what people want. If you don't like it don't make a big deal about it.
Relgion has to do a major part of this too. Im not going to go around saying that relgion is so bad because people it people.
it dosent matter Animals eat Animals. life is life

XD Is it weird that I actually agree with you. I was talking to a friend: I would try human if it was already dead.
Though the reason we are often left alone "in the wild" is that we don't taste very good. Out diets are too diverse/processed.
It's generally a biological oddity for animals to eat their own kind but it happens.

I definitely believe cannibalism is wrong and sick.
I understand the "starving on an island necessity" hypothetical situation, but I personally do not support it.
I also cannot imagine myself ever eating a human being's flesh.

As for the religious aspect: In Satanism, making human sacrifices is considered to be a good thing. In Christianity, homosexuality is one of the worst sins you could commit.
Simply because it is somebody's religious beliefs that it's okay doesn't make it okay. Regardless of religion, I still find it a sick, wrong thing to do.

cannibalism is very gruesome, and just... disgusting. i can see if you were on an island somewhere and you really had no choic, but to me you are just getting into Social Darwinism (survivial of the fittest) with that. a completey different subject.
i really don't want to hear about religion and cannibalism either... it is wrong, and i think it is morally wrong as well. why for god sakes would someone want to eat another human being after killing it?

If the person is already dead then I can say that its reasonable to eat the body for survival. Personally, I'd eat a corpse rather than to die. It's not like it's right, but it's for saving your own life.

But killing a person to have something to eat? That's just plain wrong.

We are saying it is wrong, but I would say none of us have been exposed to it in certain situations as many of us have grown up in a civilised western world where such acts are deemed to be wrong.
Many cultures use it for religious purpose's such as some people would use scarifices. Thus meaning we cannot critasize it when it has been used in that sense as that would be classed as discriminating. Yes, we may not like it but we have to accept it as something some people may do.
In survial, if it is your only option (and you probably would have already lost of sense of moral values) then many people would use it. When they look back, yes, they may find it wrong. But in that situation it is a spur of the moment thing.

Pretty much. I gotta take the kindergarten view on it. I just find it plain gross. If the person is already dead and your like starving to death then be my guest, but under any other circumstances... Shocked
