Go see your local piercer and ask them to change it for you. Daiths are in such a tricky-ass little spot you're more likely to get it unscrewed then have the ball disappear into your ear and end up having to go to the emergency department to get it sorted.
Trust me. I speak from experience. |

And would it matter if I went and saw a different piercer than the one who pierced it for me?

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2961 | January 30th, 2009 at 08:40am I have my ears pierced twice (though I haven't had rings in my second holes for a while, so they may have closed up), my nose pierced on the right and my lower lip pierced on the left.
I'd say that getting my nose pierced hurt the most. |

No, that shouldn't matter at all. Most piercing places will charge you a small fee to change jewellery for you (usually around $5, just to cover their time and whatever euqipment they use) but you can go into any old place and ask, they will be happy to do it for you. They like it even more if you're buying new jewellery to get changed, too |

I'd feel bad if they did it for free anyway, for wasting their time and all.
Thanks again (:

I'd say that nose and lip hurt about the same. I don't remember either of them being particularly painful. |

Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 2023 | January 31st, 2009 at 07:16pm i have four piercings in my ears at the moment. I got my first holes pierced and pierced the 2nd holes myself. I had my first holes out to 6s once then took them out and a few months later had them to 4s but i took them out again. lol. i've pierced my right eyebrow twice, the left side of my bottom lip twice, the cartilage of my left ear once, the cartilage of my right ear once, and my nose once. my parents dont like piercings so i took all of them out about a week after i did them.
i want a monroe on the right side and a bar in my left ear. That's it for now. |

If the flesh above the bar (y'know, where you can run your finger over your skin and feel the bar) is getting extremely thin, that's when it's growing out. Eventually, you'll probably be able to see the bar, if you leave it long enough.
Obviously, everyone's body is different so it is possible but don't panic, it's relatively rare for a belly piercing to grow out that quickly.
As far as I know, you can't do anything when they grow out - except take them out before the skin breaks to minimalize the scar. My advice would be that if you are getting worried, just go to a reputable piercer and ask them to check it out. x] |

Okay, well if the bit of skin holding it is getting smaller and smaller, or it's constantly irritated/red/weeping/feeling yuck, then yes, it's growing out. You might be able to stave it off by using more appropriate jewellery if that's what the problem is (too large a gauge, too heavy, has dangly bits etc that catch on clothing and can pull), but if it's growing out of its own accord, best just to take it out and maybe try again when it's healed. Some people just have really brilliant immune systems that reject piercings because their body knows it's not meant to have a piece of metal stabbed through it. If that's the case, then it's pretty unlikely you will make it stick for any length of time. |
