I thought this song was about how a person gets pregnant and the other person abandons them.I have always loved this song not to mention he says "I took a train down to New Orleans" that's my hometown!

this is what gerard said before they played it at our show

"Not many people know what this song is about.
And there was a time before My Chemical Romance, where I used to hang outside porn theatres, turning tricks for cocaine... you know what i am talking about.
This song's all about it... It's called Give 'Em Hell Kid."

This song is about a prostitute. She spends a typical day/night sleeping around for the money she needs, when she falls in love with a man who paid for her services. However as this man goes on with the rest of his life, when she's wanting to find him again. She realizes she doesn't wanna live like this anymore " Well there's no way I'm kissing that guy"! So the song is about a prostitute, who falls in love, and tries to turn her life around

I think that this song is about a teenage prostitute who got pregnant, because in the live version of this song on Life On the Murder Scene, at the end of the song, Gerard says "There's no way, no how, I'm sucking you off for any amount of money."

how does that mean that she got pregnate? I not sayin your totally wrong because that could work, i just don't see anything in the song that shows that she could be pregnate nessesarily. That line "There's no way, no how, I'm sucking you off for any amount of money"... I NOT GIVING YOU A BLOW JOB NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PAY ME, cuz i'm trough with all this, i'm turnin my life round. We all know that when MCR plays live Gerard is extra dirty, so he made it more literal than kissing. I think when on the CD he says kissing instead of something like fucking, or sucking, because he's showing that this girl is EXTREMELY dedicated to changing, so much so, she ain't even gonna kiss for money, much less fuck them.

Nobody really knows what this song is about.
Gerard's said it's about several things - teenage pregnancy, prostitution, being different, getting bullied. It's one of those songs that nobody will ever figure out, I think. >.<

i agree. i get the general impression that it's about troubled youth, especially those who get in trouble by getting pregnant & then being stigmatised by society.

it's a power combo song -- several issues rolled into one. wow!! Very Happy

Especially with the line, "We are young, and we don't care". It seems like it fits into the sort of Youth Gone Wild type song.

In New Zealand on December 6th just before staring this song Gerard said:
"Not many people know what this song’s about but there was a time before My Chemical Romance, were I used to hang out outside porn theatres, turning tricks for cocaine, you know what I’m talking about!?” It was like … yeah Gerard…Of course we do…. And then after instead of the "Well there's no way I'm kissing that guy!" bit he said " $10 for a hand job, $20 for a blow job, I'll give you whatever the fuck you want for cocaine!”

I think the line "took a train outta New Orleans" might have something to do with the fact that Louisiana, and the rest of the south, is very conservative, thus, generally, more against premarital sex and abortion. This could possibly furthur multiply the feelings the narrator (who I am assuming is the girl Immortal_Shadows describes on the first page) has of being scared and alone.

Are you serious? Thats pretty funny in a discusting sorta way...
I read in "My Chemical Romance: This Band Will Save Your Life" that this song is about "Getting knocked the fuck up" whatever that means.

I think it's about a girl who gets pregnant, and when she tells the father, he skips town to avoid responsibility, presumably to New Orleans

Okay, I'm in love with this song. I also love how it mentions New Orleans, lol.
Anyway, I think it's about a wild child, or prostitute. She grows up in N.O.? Maybe, she is a prostitute to feel loved. She gets pregant? She does drugs maybe to try to get rid of the baby, and then realizes she doesn't want to be wild, or be like that anymore. idk.

I think it is about teenage pregnancy.

"And they shot me full of ephedrine"
"this is how we do it in the murder scene"

- Ephedrine is a diet pill that when taken in large amouts whilst pregnant can kill your unborn child. This shows that the young girl is scared about being pregnant and wants it to go away, it also suggests that she is taking these diet pills to stay thin so she can "forget" that she is pregnant.

"Well I'm a total wreck and almost everyday
Like the fireiing squad or the mess you made"

-This is aimed at the boyfriend who got her pregnant. She is very scared and confused and angry. It was not just her fault as it was him how got her into this mess in the first place.

"Well I dont look pretty walking down the street
In the best damn dress I own?"

- Her faveorite dress doesnt fit her anymore and this makes her feel unattractive and not very pretty due to her pysical condition.

"We are young and we don't car
Your dreams and your hopeless hair
We never wanted it to be this way"

- They are to young too have a child. They have lost all their dreams. When you are that young, you should not have to worry about raising a child. You should only have small, petty things like your hair to worry about.

"If you were here
I'd never have a fear
So go on live your life
But I miss you more than i did yesterday"

- I think that mabee the boyfriend has left her when she needs him most. He has left so he can live his life, leaving her alone and scared. She misses him and wants him to come back. I think she is also very angry at him for leaving her in this state and wonders if he ever even cared about her-

"Do you care at all?"
Yea, I agree. This explanation is clear as glass... when I tried I was thinking "easy peasy lemon squeezy..." Then when I actually tried, I was like, "Wow... my explanation was as clear as mud."

This song, I guess, is pretty hard to comprehend. you could say that not all the songs are this complex. I've worked out the others, but I still can't get clear enough of this song...
I guess that's really MCR.

You gotta have the brains and the heart to find out what it really means.

Nice explanation. Smile
I completly agree with them
