Okay, I love Frank, I really do, but I love Rays solos a TEENSY bit more....I hate to have favourites but Ray's solos are just magic!

He changed the general stereotype of grunge metal to be a trashy mish-mash of screwed up 'n' flat powerchords; people began to realise that not all grunge 'n' metal guitarists are so one-way and simple with their rythm, but they can also be diverse in their mechanistic styles. For example, Slash was a very good blues player as well as rock. He could change his finger style to the piece of music accordingly.

Herman Li. He's not the best, he features in 'total guitar' magazine monthly, giving lessons on sweep picking and tapping. If you notice his solo's in dragonforce, he often doesn't move too much and he uses his picking hand to tap a lot more than you would think. His sweep picking, though, is extroadinary. |
