I think home schooling can be good in that you're in your own environment and you have less distractions from other people but it must get pretty lonely and it must be pretty hard to socialise because school is like a big part of social life for students as its where they meet many of their friends. I think its also a shame because you can only learn as much as your parents can teach you, no more than what they know. I don't have any experiences of it though there was a boy who got homeschooled after year 6 because he got bullied pretty badly.

At my school they don't accept more than 20 people in each class. I go to private school and the education is pretty good because they only let people who seem to want to learn in and who have got certain grades though thats not important. There is no bullying at my school and though thats hard to believe its actually true, everyone looks after everyone else - its a nice atmosphere. If maybe all schools had this kind of atmosphere people wouldn't need tobe home schooled, unless they want to of course.

i see nothing wrong with it. kids who were homeschooled are less likely to do drugs and less likely to be arrested at a point in their lives . and when they do, they tell how negative it is, and peer-pressure is usually how people start a drug. my cousins are homeschooled and they are really great. they have friends and everything. but i noticed they are more polite and proper then the kids that go to public schools.

I'm most likely going to get home schooled on the
internet next year, and I can't wait. I'm already a social
outcast so I don't have to worry about that. xD
But It's good for some people in certain ways. But
then for other people its bad in certain ways. IT's
different for every individual.
Like for me, I've moved around so much I don't
want to change schools again this year. I've
changed schools every year for the past 5 years, so
I'm like %60 sure I'm getting home schooled next
year, and I can't wait.

I think that it could be a bit confusing if a kid was home schooled their whole life, and then got stuck in a public school in the middle of high school. Also, he/she could be more pressured into drugs so they can have friends. But it depends on the person also, they could have different belifs, or friends at the school already.

im doing home schooling this year, so far its much easier and im learning alot more than what i would at school.
ive been to a public school (k-year 6) i was teased, extreamly shy and had no self essteam.
although there were good points, i wasnt learning anything and i was classed as "dumb" rather than realise i have "learning difficulties"
i then went to a private school (year6-year9) and it was much better in some aspects but i got depression in year 8 and it just got worse and worse until i had to pull out of school and do home schooling, (im going back to school next year.)

although home school effects some peoples social behaviour it has made me more confident and i no longer have depression Razz

I donno about home school. Most of the people I know who are home schooled are weridly relgious kids at my old church. I am kind of for it. Yet, the kids don't really get to know what high school is like and you kind of live in a box. Then when you go out in the real world you don't know how to take people. High school taught me a lot about people. If I was home schooled then... I might have missed out on it. No Offence to anyone who is home schooled.

true but alot of homeschoolers could be as bad as someone
who goes to public schools, they could be rude,do drugs, cut, whatever,
i really don`t think it has to do where you go to school but
it`s how their parents raise them.

I was homeschooled for a while.
4 years.
6th grade-9th grade.
I'm going to a private school next year.
A lot of people tend to think that you have no friends when you're homeschooled, but actually, I have a lot of friends. In fact, I'm the most outgoing out of all of my friends probably, I can walk up to any random person and strike up a conversation. That's just my personality. Then again, this may also be because I haven't been homeschooled all of my life.
Homeschooling's nice I think. You can focus on subjects you're weak in for a long period of time. Pros:
+not getting up too early
+not having to get ready to go anywhere
+you can chill at home
Cons:
+You have to self-discipline yourself. If there's one thing I am not good at, it's self-disciplining. I suck.
+{If you're shy, or not in some sort of homeschool group}Not being able to make friends. I have a lot of friends from a lot of different groups, cause I like to be involved with stuff, and I'm just friendly. Most people are surprised that I was homeschooled cause I'm so loud.

And homeschoolers CAN get in trouble. This guy I know got expelled from a school he was in a homeschool group with, a CHRISTIAN school, along with some other people, for chewing tobacco. I know that in public school you probably wouldn't get expelled for that, but still. I'm proving a point.

HOMESCHOOLERS GET IN TROUBLE.
And we're not completley sheltered either...look at me. On a My Chemical Romance site. And I don't even have MTV.

Amor Vincit Nikki.:
Good: You don't have to deal with the pressures public/private school provides, like bullying.

Bad: Not much socializing.

really, I would have to say the opposite because if you attend a public, not private, school, you face pressures and bullying - which is actually good...ech..in the long run because in a way, all the pressures of school teaches you to be on your own. if you get a job later in your life, there's gonna be bullying and other pressures for sure and you need experiences on how to deal. I'm not saying that bullying is good, cause it's not, but going to school and facing all those pressures is kind of like learning how to steam off anger, multi-task, and other stuff you have to learn.

Ive been home schooled for about 2 years now. I left my high school in the middle of year 8 and didnt do any schooling for about 6 months. I had always hated going to school not for the studying side of thing but for the soical side and due to that I got depressed. I was teased which didnt help. Home school has helped though and I would go back to normal school now coz I know I can handle it better then what I used to.

Some people just need to be home schooled. Like people with mental illnesses. Of course, no way does every one who is home schooled have a mental illness. But some people just cant cope. For instance, when i was in primary school, there was a kid with aspurgus disease (im not sure how to spell it) and he had to leave. He was ultra smart, but he threw his shoes across the room when something didnt go his way, and tried to hit a kid with a cricket bat. So some people need it. But i think it should sort of be a last option. Because if you've done it too much, wouldnt you like, forget how to socialize? I don't know.. .. Ive never done it

I guess home schooling does have its perks, but I would never want that.
I think that going to school everyday builds up important socail skills that will be needed in the future.
The school enviroment [classes, lockers, bullies, clicks, ect.] is a part of growing up that everyone should experiance at some point, I would want to take that from my children.
But I have nothing against home schooling or people home schooled, I just prefer to go to a school.

^Next time, try to ask those type of questions in the Q&A thread in the INO chamber, you'll get a fast answer and people won't get annoyed. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ranks. Different ammounts of posts mean different ranks. At 100 you change.
----------

Home schooling is both a blessing and a curse. You can control your child's learning, progress, and shelter them from teh abuse and distractions of school. On the other hand, overly sheltering them can lead to a lack of knowledge of the real world and anxiety over how to deal with everyday situations.

I'm on edge on what i want to do. i've been home schooled my whole life i'm 13 in the 9th grade, and i basically have no social life what so ever i've been thinking of going to a public school but i'm not sure if that's a good idea or not. for people who have been/are home schooled do you think it's better to go to a public school or be in some home schooled group thing? i've been to one of those things before but i didn't really make any freinds because i was really really shy when i was little i've grown out of that shyness now but still a little shy. not sure what i should do cuz if i went to a group thing and didn't make freinds i'd feel even worse.
