ooh that cover is kinda scary & more like what Gerard would draw lol but i'm glad they chose the other cover- it's more friendly & suits the comic more.
any one got any ideas for the lettercol name? Gerard's giving away a signed issue for the winner i have no idea |

Age: 45 Gender: Female Posts: 1831 | September 22nd, 2007 at 04:12am At the end of most books there is a letter column, or lettercol. Fans can write in and the artist/writer/publisher will choose a few letters to print and answer. Most of them have snappy names. "Cup o' Joe" comes to mind. (Joe Quesada's column published in many Marvel titles) |

I just don't think it would be good enough for them to use, so I'm hesitant to mail it in. |

Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 2404 | September 22nd, 2007 at 05:07am He wrote The Umbrella Academy, and Gabriel Ba did the comic, while a couple other people did the lettering and such.
But he drew a variant of the cover for the comic that you can buy on ebay. |

I was particularly impressed by Gabriel's skill where he drew the kid spaceboy when he told the monocle he wants to go to space. Those 3 boxes of spaceboy's expression captures his determination with just a few strokes of the pen & even just through drawing, it gives a clue to his destiny- just look closely at his face! Amazing how Gabriel's simple style can be just as good if not even better than most. |

Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 2188 | September 23rd, 2007 at 01:58am lol this thread seems to be full of confused people...
reasons you should buy TUA:
1- because you're young at heart & imaginative & love superheroes anyways
2- because you appreciate the art
3- because you've heard Gerard's 'storytelling' in his songs so his comic will be just as good
3- because you simply enjoy comic books (or want to start reading them)
reasons with which you should NOT buy the TUA:
1- because it's written by a rock star
2- so to prove yourself to be a complete fangirl (lol it's not directed at anyone)
it's never too late to pick up comic books, look at me, I only bought my first comic book at 19 & still haven't seen all the seen most of the superhero movies.
(it's approx $5 AUS) |
