wasted youth. Demolition Lover Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 19899 | This is the primary school that I went to: At Redleap Reserve there's a few playgrounds and this huge gross lake: And the new Westfield that was built this year, it's still only a quarter finished. When it's finished it's supposed to be the biggest shopping centre in the Southern Hempisphere: |

joni. Shotgun Sinner Age: 30 Gender: - Posts: 7747 | Jackson, Kentucky. It's a verrrrry small town, but it's really pretty, if you know where to look. This is a view of the whole town, about 40 years ago. It hasn't changed much. Just gotten a bit bigger. This is in the center of downtown jackson. Its only a small peice of the war memorial there. more of the memorial. The whole town is basically centered around football. Coach would kill someone for pulling up one blade of grass in this field. There's a small community college, named Lee's. It's very pretty. this was that "if you know where to look" thing I was saying earlier. more...pretty-ness. The guy on the right is Steven Bowling. He's a historian/forensic somethingorother/library owner. He can tell you anything you wanna know about the town. We also have a weather station, on top of a huge ass hill. it's pretty up there. (: yep...that's Jackson. |

But we left when I was 2, now I live in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It's prettier, but not too much, lawl. So I guess that's my hometown. Honduras is pretty small though. In general I don't like my country, but SPS is the most decent city. |

Tilly and the Wall Bleeding on the Floor Age: 31 Gender: - Posts: 1850 | I live in Karachi. It's a really huge city, one of the biggest ones in the world. In some places it's really beautiful, in others people just don't take care of it ): but I love it <3 Wikipedia says, "Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan. It is the world's second largest city proper behind Mumbai in terms of population, which exceeds 10 million. In terms of metropolitan population, it is the twentieth largest city of the world" That's the Saddar area, around the heart of Karachi. That's Frere Hall. That's a view to the right of Shahra-e-Faisal, I believe. It's huge. Stretches on and on (: ...and that's my school. |
Cigarettes And Suicide Bleeding on the Floor Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 1725 | Gladstone, Queensland. Aka Sadstone, Gladrock, Bumfuck Central. The powerhouse: (generates and supplies electricity to the region) It's a city based on industry. It has the second largest natural harbour in the southern hemisphere, and its major claim to fame revolves around the shipping industries - we export coal, we import bauxite, turn it into alumina (a fine white powder) and then turn it into aluminium and ship it all over the world. Our refineries are some of the largest in the world. It's a dirty, filthy little hole with a population of around 45,000. The coal storage facilities mean the entire town is permanently coated in the fine black dust that is carried on the breeze, and cleaning your house is a nightmare (I've had to throw so much stuff out because it's just so covered in coal dust you can't use it anymore). QAL: and at night: (we called it 'Fairyland' as kids, it's quite beautiful at night). Woodchip Stockpiles at Auckland Point: We have a pretty nice Marina, and we held my daughter's first birthday at the new(ish) Spinnaker Park - basically a big pile of dirt was dumped in the harbour and trees planted on it... now it's this beautiful lush park right on the water, with an artificial beach for swimming. There was a big oil spill there a couple years back and the beach was closed for months while they cleaned up. Spinnaker was also closed for a week earlier this year when 21-year-old Kat Daley was abducted, raped and murdered while walking home alone from the local nightclub on the waterfront, and her body was found the next day, dumped in bushland in Callemondah, near the scrap yard where my husband works. The park, local duck ponds and several other places were shut down while forensics teams were searching for her cell, shoes and other bits and pieces related to her (they were all later found in the rented home of the man charged with her murder). Every Easter, we host the Harbour Festival. It's like a big show, with rides and Sideshow Alley, and the Marina Stage has entertainment ranging from cover bands to talent shows, and we crown the Harbour Festival Queen (who just happens to be whichever entrant raised the most money through fundraising over the last year). It lasts for a week, and as such, nobody goes to the actual show because the Harbour Festival has free entry and it hell better than the dumb show. We have a grand total of one shopping mall, Stockland, which has pretty much nothing of interest. It's just the local hang-out for emo kids. The local urban legend is Bob Cutty. I'm not kidding. When we were kids, the mere mention of 'Bob Cuddy' was enough to frighten the pants off you, or start a punch-up (as in, someone says, 'Your mum loves Bob Cutty', it was on for young and old). I always thought the guy was some mythical entity that had been invented, but then I met him when I was working at the local Sanity (record store). He's this fat old man who has a reputation as a paedophile, and to this day, say 'Bob Cutty' to a small child and they'll either laugh at you or run and hide. They're still talking about him!! We used to sit on the Sun Valley roundabout, behind the trees, and get drunk. Parties at the Racecourse or the Brothers' shed were the shiz. Ferry trips over to South End (on Curtis Island) or Facing Island for a weekend of bonfires, drinking goon and thrashing old cars. Lapping down at the waterfront on a Thursday night, and illegal street racing on Red Rover Road, and burnouts at Mushroom Lookout, are fond memories and still go on with each new generation. Last year's Miss Universe Australia contestant, Kimberley Busteed (or, as my friends and I call her, 'Face-Like-A-Busteed-Arse', she's a dick and everybody except her mother hates her), is a born-and-bred Gladdy local... and a scrag. You can see here why she didn't win: But basically, Gladstone has a small-town mentality and nothing ever happens there. |
