Who do you think is the best guitarist in the world?

Yes, I know Frankie and Ray are cool, and all, but they are not nessecarily the best in the world Wink

I'd say Jimmy Page, or Steve Vai, or maybe Satriani, or maybe Brian May...

God Dammit, I can't choose. XD

Too many good guitarists out there.
Eddie Van Halen.
Angus Young.
Jimmy Paige.
Alex Lifeson.
Jimi Hendrix.
and of course
Ray Toro.
Frank Iero.
Pat Mcmanaman.

WAY too many to choose from.

I'd pick Jimmy Page or Yngwie Malmsteen, but Ray is really my inspiration.

Frank Iero is not an amazing guitarist. There' s difference between amazing guitarist and amazing performer, and Frank is only the latter.

Omar Rodrgiguez of The Mars Volta. He isn't all about speed, but has some really amazing ideas and his tones are amazing.
John Petrucci of Dream Theater. Probably my favorite guitarist ever. His runs are just... gah. His tone is at times hard to tell from a keyboard though. XD
Paul Waggoner of Between The Buried And Me. He's so fast, so catchy. Selkies: The Endless Obsession is about as much as I can take before I cut my slow motion fingers off.

Hmmm... I've decided. It's Ray Toro all the way. I studied all his guitar solos way before I started learning the harder stuff.

I'm working on Dragon Force. Wink

Ray and Jon Devoto of The Matches are the same kind of players really. It's catchy stuff.

Kirk Hammet said that Sam and Herman are the fastest players he's ever seen.

Brian May, being a huge fan of Queen. I fall in love with his solos and riffs and I get shivery. That man is talent.
Jimmi Hendrix, because I remember listening to just his guitar over and over and over again and being really annoyed when the singing came on. Amazing work.

Matt Bellamy anyone? I think he's amazing with his riffs.

And I've grown to love Ray Toro and believe he is a bit underrated, but that's me. And Frank is a good guitarist, but I agree, I would not call him amazing but I love him still. Very Happy

There are tons of awesome, talented virtuoso players out there but I can't say I love them all, but I sure as hell respect and admire them lots.

YES. Brian May... such talent...
He was never perfect technically (I think he had difficulty playing...E something...I can't remember...) but he's very talented still.

And I MUST mention John Frusciante from Red Hot Chili Peppers. Wow.

Oh, and I nearly forgot Ray. The man is an amazing guitarist, seriously. I can close my eyes and just let his riffs wash over me. -nods-

Brian May, Kirk Hammet, Ray Toro, Hendrix, Paige, Clapton, Young .

I wouldn't say Frank is though. Like someone else said, he's more of a great performer.

If Hendrix would have made instrumental music it would have been so much cooler.

I still ove him though. Voodoo Child is just so... wow.

Hm, I know what you mean. Very Happy Voodoo Child is wow. I've got the Electric Ladyland album, and there's amazing guitar work on there. And, I love him because he's a leftie, I think? I heard something about him playing his guitar upside down, and wikipedia said so too (not the best soruce). I'm a leftie too. Smile

Mikey Way is a bassist + the stuff he plays is pretty ordinary.
