Screaming.

I scream almost every other day, so isn´t that practise enough? Me and me friends played this stupid thing one time; we pretented that we were acting in a horror film, and so we sreamed so hard, that our ears almost blew off! Oh gosh it was fun...

Whenever i try to scream i lose confidence halfway thru and think i sound like a fool. Other people like it tho. Mine seems to come from my lungs more than anything, i cant seem to get it to come from anywher else.

Here is where my smoking comes in handy! ( -_- I should make 101 reasons to some! I would only have two vs. 08540954 bad reasons. So dont think im advertizing im being sarcastic.)

The best way for me to scream is to put myself in a fetal position and imagine im a mix between a demond and a toad. n.n

Smoking...actually makes it worse. Since you'll have problems controlling your voice and pitch.

You need to find somewhere to practise, somewhere you won't be looked at in strange ways by people for doing it; your room when your parents are out, perhaps? Then you basically just need to experiment with different techniques. If it hurts your throat badly, you're doing it wrong. And if you do that too much, you can get vocal cord damage. The place that's best to scream without hurting yourself is from your diaphragm. It's hard to do, but practise a lot and itll come eventually. Sorry, did a long paragraph then XD

How does Chester Bennington scream? he sounds growly yet vocal at the same time. as in the tune doesn't get lost in the scream as it does with many singers.

You need to drink alot of water, to stop your throat drying out and therefore fucking up. If it hurts when you're drinking alot, you're doing it wrong.
Scream from your diaphragm and open up your throat for a lower scream.
Practise alot. Scream along to songs too. That'll help with timing.

Close your throat up.
Opening your throat makes it lower.

I don't know how they explain it... I found out that you just gotta know what you are doing...

It's a really dangerous thing to attempt. You really should get a qualified teacher to teach you. It could end up fucking up your voice completely for the rest of your life if you do it wrong.

how do you know if your using your diaphragm

If it hurts you throat, then you probably aren't using your diaphragm. When you use your diaphragm you have to inflate your stomach with air and push out with it.

Honestly, where do you go to practice screaming when you don't have a band backing you? Everywhere I go, people freak out and think I'm being murdered or something. I don't have a basement/garage/attic/tra lala. and I can't turn my music up. I don't know. For me it's frustrating.

I usually practice when my parents are gone and I'm home alone.

There is no safe way for screaming because it comes from the throat.

not all screaming comes from the throat (infact none of it should, its too dangerous), you can do it from your diaphragm, thats safe.
