haha dude, I love your avatar! Very Happy
I´ve been playing guitar for over 3 years. I have really funny teacher, and I go to take lessons on every Wednesday. I play the acoustic one, cus I think that it is more my thing than electric.

I play guitar. If you can call it playing, cuz I suck like hell.
My parents won't let me buy an electric, but I'm saving up for a Les Paul.

EDIT: I just won a Strat on Ebay! Now I'm happy! Yes

My teacher lent me some of his stuff.

He lent me his Hagstrom and his Zoom G7.1ut. They are both amazing. He trusts me with his stuff. It's pretty rad. He got his F-20 for like.. $300. Hagstroms are worth around $1000. He also has a Super Swede... I love em.... I might get me a Hagstrom some day. I'm also borrowing my brother's Epiphone Les Paul Custom. To be honest, I don't like it all that much. I've always wanted one, but I'm either saving up for a Gibson (that's gonna take a while) or getting a Hagstrom F-20 or Super Swede.

The F-20 is amazing. It has a really thin neck. It has a very bright sound and screams like nuts. The only problem is that it sometimes goes out of tune easily compared to the Super Swede, which you can play for AGES and not worry about the tuning going out of sync.

I don't like the Epiphone Les Paul. It's not all it's cracked up to be. But my brother doesn't take care of his stuff... The intonation is fucked and the rhythm/treble switch is broken. It goes out of tune VERY EASILY. I'll put it down for a couple minutes and I'll pick it up and it'll sound horrible. It might be because of the strings or the intonation....

And the Zoom is awesome. I also have one, but I don't like it. While it has a lot of different sounds, the quality of the sound itself is.. Shitty. Wit the G7.1ut, it's different. There are some really cool effects and the sound is nice..

*Sigh*

Yeah. Sorry.

... A black Les Paul?

Do you mean a guitar with a Les Paul shape, a Gibson... Or an Epiphone?

I've been taking guitar lessons for about two years on both my acoustic and electric, but I'm getting pretty much nowhere because my guitar teacher just seems reluctant to teach me anything other than the basics.
I only know about six chords and a very small amount of bar chords.
So I have a question.
How can I teach myself more chords and actually make progress on learning how to play?

(Also, how do people figure out a chord by ear? Like, if you listen to a song and just automatically know what chord/notes/etc. the guitarist is playing? I'm assuming it just takes some practice, but I'd like to know what you all have to say.)

i did lessons on a classic when i was about 4, and they lasted for 3 years.
then i didnt really play much until the start of this yer, when i started getting lessons on my electric Razz
im saving up for one of the synyster gates designed guitars (wishful thinking, honestly! haha) or an emily the strange one Razz
currently playing 'basket case' cos its fun and i like it.
hehe.

Russian Roulette.
omg! chords by ear! my teacher does it like... superfast its scary, and he gets it on the first go! my friend can do it too! its freeaky! lol. i have no idea how they do it. i guess just a lot of practice on guitar and a musical ear. lol.
umm, use the net or books that teach yourself for the chords. my teacher went through basics first too. trust me, its for the best. that way when you get more advanced, its easier for you cos you know the fingerings and that Smile

I've been playing guitar for two years.
I play an Ephiphone Les Paul Standard Plus with a heritage burst finish. The same finish of the bright one that Ray Toron plays. ^_^
I've never had lessons, I think they're completely worthless. I've learned everything on my own, and that's given me an extremely unique style that I enjoy having.
I have no life, I spend almost all my free time playing guitar.
I'm a lot better than most people who've played for one or two years more than me...
but I'd expect that's just because I gave up my social life for guitar. XD

I build, too... but that's a different story. ^_^

Been playing classical for the past two years. Saving up for a Hohner L-90 Goldtop, but if that don't work out, then maybe a Fender Telecaster.

I've always had to borrow my friend's Epiphone Les Paul when I perform for school concerts.

By the way right now I have my Epiphone Special II (very cheap guitar but it works) and I've been playing for like 4 years now.
I started with a classic guitar and then I bought an electric.
