Feminists and women's rights in general

Still in year 2006 man get in Finland more than woman almost 200 euros! Finland is rich country.
I read somewhere that in year 1500 they though womans ass is big because they can sit better than mans, and they can be better home doing socks and think like that ...strange?
I'm so sad and angry about that woman are still so "slave" for some mans...but i'm not a politicia..

And it's sad 'cause somewhere womans don't have no equitable...
But thats good almost everyone (man) respect womans because they love womans

That come from the heart of every man. I think thought their cause is noble, some go to far.

I work in an all-women firm, so we get paid the equivilant of how hard we work. I must say the only issue I have with feminism is when women demand special treatment. Like men should open ALL doors, pay for ALL things and bend over backwards to make them happy. That's not equality, that's subserviant behavior. I open the door for my man half the time and we split everything 50/50. If he buys me dinner one night, I buy the next. It's not right for me or any other woman to place herself above men in any reagrd.

so true. my english teacher and drama teacher are both extremely feminist, and when it is rammed down your throat everyday it kinda makes you want to go home, go to the kitchen, bake cookies, and have hundreds of kids running around you whilst your husband treats you like an object.

1. Some feminists defintely go too far. There is a line between standing up for what you believe in and hurting others because of it. Women are not weaker than men, and men are not weaker than women. We are all equal.

2. Women's rights have a big impact on a ton of stuff, and I have never even heard of people supporting mens' rights because the truth is, they don't need it.

3. Double standards are stupid. period.

Feminism is just the idea that women are equal to men. Some "feminists" take this idea and totally distort it and start rambling on about how men are inferior to women--these people aren't actually feminists at all, but women that are sexist and want to hide behind the excuse of feminism. I'm a feminist--I also believe that men have been and are useful contributors to this society.

Feminism is stupid, overblown nowadays.

I do believe in equal rights and abilities though, but i prefer to call it equality, not feminisim. Thats to sexist only having females mentioned in it

Just goes to show, while people complain racism is the worst injustice in America, they are seriously overlooking the fact that woman are much less likely so succeed (due to the glass celling and unequal pay)

Feminism is overblown, I will admit...

but my best friends are female, and I can't help but wanna fight with them. A few of them applied for weights and were refused the chance to be in the class. That's just sexist crap.

and that's coming from a girl who lives in a community where the woman stay home and work out while 'tending to the children' to keep their husbands attracted the them. most of the women in my town are at least ten years younger then their husbands. and most of them dye their hair blond. and making themselves good looking is their main priority. and i just hate it. the majority of woman in my town who are married in my town didn't even go to collage.
i will be dammed before I have to become a house-mom instead of earning my own money.

I think some feminists go too far and end up discriminating men. Well, the difference between men and women's rights used to be drastic. But then, we got the right to vote. Which is great. I think men and women's rights are pretty equal right now.

I am a feminist, but not the kind you'd think.

I just think that women shouldn't be treated like objects. And the problem is the media. What the media is doing to males AND especially females is compeletely WRONG.

Finally, I recently found the thing I wanted to be when I was older. A feminist.

For those of you who don’t know what a feminist is, let me explain. A feminist is a person who highly supports womens’ rights and well-being. There are many types of feminism. There is liberal, eco, radical and socialist feminism but I won’t get into that. Right now, our society is very messed up. Women are treated like objects and used for advertisement in wrongful ways. If you watch music videos, you’ll see the images of women are very innapropriate. We have gotten so numb from the media’s image of women, we don’t even react to its disgusting actions. Just look at music these days... All it’s about is women shaking their “junk” for men at clubs. Yet, we listlen to it. Anyhow, all this to say, that there are more feminists than ever before.

Now, you really have to be determined to be a feminist. There are many simple steps you can take before heading out and taking on the world.
1)You can stop talking about your weight. It’s a bad example for the people around you.
2)Start discovering women you admire. Question yourself about their behaviour, why they are special to you and what their values are. ( Except for looks )
3)Concentrate on your inner values. There are more important things to a person than the outside.
4)Watch out on what you spend your money on. Are you buying things that involve cosmetics? If so, think about the negative companies you are supporting.
5)Voice your thoughts. Who says you can’t send letters to comment on media you approve or dissaprove to?
6)Be a role model. Being different from the women you see everywhere could attract young admirers. Your little sister or cousin could look up to you as a hero.

Once you have aced those simple steps, you can join feminist groups and go around the world, giving presentations and protesting. Who knows, could be the voice of the generation.

I think that Feminism gets way out of hand. I mean fighting for rights is one thing, but actually hating someone just for being a guy is a little to much.

In soc class, we had an extended study on males and females. We looked over many documented studies that all found the female to be biologically superior to the male in terms of health, lifespan, and brain activity. It was facinating.

Not saying men arn't worth as much, but we clearly have the biological upper hand.

i agree with female rights (duh) but i do believe that some feminists go way to far sometimes. woman have a lot of rights, pretty much the same rights as a guy. and hating men is way outta lead, what have they ever done to them? its one thing to hate the government and congress because of our rights but hating all men?

LHD- your post made me crack up laughing. i have no idea why we have better health and superior brain activity then men, but woman do live longer then men because of those reasons. men die most of the time from bad health or they do something, without thinking twice, and end up getting hurt or die. the only thing men have the upper hand on is strength, men are a lot stronger due to genics. thats really it, but with everything else, we got it good
