I think this song is Gerard's dedication to the person he loves.

I heard somewhere that it's about 2 lovers who get blown apart ["All we are is bullets"] and they end in purgatory. The guy makes a deal with Satan that if he kills 1000 evil men then he will get his lover back.

And it's why they came up with the album Three Cheers.

"A story of a man. A woman. And the corpses of 1000 evil men."

I read on another website that Gerard Way wrote this song to a former lover. Like, it was about them and the break-up,etc.

i agree with everything said above.

but ive also heard that it was inspired a bit by the movie "Natural Born Killers".
dunno how true that is though.
but i can see a little resemblance there.

...
oh and by the way.
which version do you perfer, the "Demolition Lovers" or "Demolition Lovers part 1".
im still not sure. Smile

I seem to think this is about doing whatever yuo can to be with the one you truely love...even if hat thing is death beacuse you know truely deep down inside you life without that person is a a living hell...and we are portrayed as bullets..just used, wasted really and destroying the lifes of others..but in the end we can be together and nothing can stop it ever.
Yeah i have a weird sense when it comes to these things but it also calls out to me

All the songs on the CD are about killing someone, and he is apologizing to his lover/girlfriend for writing all kinds of songs about killing her.

well...my interpritation was off if they're all right. i thought that he’s running away from the fact that they are falling apart and he says he wants to stay with her until he dies. He also says he’d do anything to prove to her that he loves her, even kill himself. He says that as long as he’s drunk he’ll get through it, and he acts over dramatic, like it’s the end of the world, which is what he says, or at east the end of his world. He says their love is like a desert, dry and cracked, with “all the things they put each other through,” and the little bit of relief from this is gentle snow, so it must be the middle of the night, because deserts are freezing at night and hot during the day – also like their love, I guess. He says he’ll light himself on fire to keep the fire inside alive, and that he’ll put the gun with “a dozen reasons” to his head to prove tot her that he loves her. In his last moment, he sees her eyes close to his (like she was kissing him) and he finally decides at the end, “oh, the only reason we’re going down (breaking up) is because I was a jackass and just shot myself in the head.” And he says at the end that he’ll love her forever, no matter what.

If you read the inside of the first CD (which someone has most likely mentioned before me) it tells you the same thing TP! For My Bunghole said it did.

Linked from this site: On the surface this song is about loving someone to death, but the background to this track is a story that Gerard has concieved about two characters, he and his partner. They are both killed but he ends up in Purgatory and the only way that he can get to her is if he kills 1000 evil men. This is the story of how they died. Part of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge follows up this song, and also part of the Demolition Lovers epic is the song Drowning Lessons as it touches upon "1000 bodies piled up". But of course, there are imagery ties to Natural Born Killers.

Also it's about how Gerard would die for the one he loves. In the inlay of the album it says "To K: I'm sorry I write all these songs about killing you, i hope the last track makes up for it." The last track is Demolition Lovers.

I'd end my days with you in a hail of bullets.

Kay, so I think this song is talking about if you love someone enough you should do your best to be with them forever and a day.
Even if you have to go through a lot of pain to get there.
You'll still be together forever.

Yeah... then it goes to 3 cheers which i think is amazing this ongoing story. gerard has such invisionment of what he writes. I dont think he gets his lover back because in I Never Told You What I Do For A Living it ends with "They gave us two shots in the back of the end and we're all dead now..." which then makes me wonder if he did have her back. But then they die which leads into the Black Parade. He is dead, joining the black parade and EVENTUALLY he might end up with his lover once again.

I think it's the male demolition lover singing to his lover about how he would do anything to have her back, and he loves her, and would do anything for her. They are demolition lovers, and they'd do anything, and demolish everything to be with each other.

This must be my fave song of MCR... I just love it! I really don't know why Gee wrote this song, but it's amazing...
To me is the story of a guy that loves his gf way too much and the only way to prove himself to her is actually showing her that's he'd die for her (I'm trying to let you know just how much you mean to me). But he wants her to die for him as well. So with the song he tells that he wants to die with her (I'll end my days with you in a hail of bullets)
But the part I still can't get is if both kill themselves or he kills her and then kills himself...
Thoughts anyone???

**There's an undercover masoquism in my liking this particular song...

If you read 'Gerard's thanks' for the Bullets album, it says something like "Sorry I said all that stuff about killing you. I hope the last song makes up for it" The last song being Demolition Lovers.

Beautiful song and great ending to the "Bullets" album as well as a beautiful intro to the "Revenge" album.
The song is really screwed up, but it seems to be a planned suicide. Almost like Romeo and Juliet accept they both planned to die, to be together... and then the guy lives and has to get the girl back OR the couple is split up and stuck in limbo trying to find each other... something like that.
