There are gates outside I believe. Once you park and everything, you have to stand outside the gates until they open. Then I think it is simply a free-for-all for the best seats.

OH! and question! are there places near by to go to the restroom... cause that will be greatly needed if i'm gonna be camping out....

I know there are places inside, I'm not sure about outside. I called the pavillion, they said you can camp out as early as you like, but once the gates are open, it's first-come, first served seating. If you want the floor (it's very small) you have to get there early and run like the devil.

They scan your tickets at the gate. First you have to file through a line of security people who make sure you're not carrying guns or bombs or knives. Then they scan your ticket and let you in. From there you have to (presumably) walk through the main area (food stands, restrooms, beer tents) and around the to amphitheatre. The lawn slopes down into the stage area (which is covered).

"walk through the main area"... haha! ^-^ i am definatel going to be running!

thanks... yeah, i figured that about the tickets, but i wasn't sure how they did it, cause the way you said it, it made it sound like they opened the gates then it turned into something like that stampede scene from the lion king... lol... i've seen it happen before...

Yay, a thread for Merriweather!
Of course I'm going. I love Merriweather.
It's like 10 minutes from my house.
I've been to so many concerts there in the past year.

Uhh, what would you like to know?
I've been going to Merriweather since I was a little kid.

Edit: I've got a tip. My friends and I always park at the mall rather than parking in the Merriweather parking area because it's nuts trying to get out. So, my parents just drop us off at the part closest to Merriweather or my friend that's driving just parks in the lot.

But, since you guys have never been there it might be confusing. Unless you've been to the Columbia Mall.

I don't know.
I'm getting there around noon, but I was talking to someone on here from VA and she's getting there at like 8 AM.
So, it's up to you.

Yeah! I just got mine yesterday!
At first I was worried because they hadn't come yet and then finally my mom was like "some priority mail is here for you."
And I was like "yessss"

I'll be there. I'm really excited, it's going to be my first time seeing them.

I don't like outdoor venues, because the acoustics are generally poor. but one of my coworkers said that Merriweather was one of her favorite venues when she lived in Maryland and the sound was great. I'm taking her word for it and hoping she's right.

(and if not, I get to see them indoors the following week Smile )

Yeah, Merriweather is a great venue. Even when you're on the lawn the sound is kick ass.

I'm hoping to be nowhere near the lawn and much closer to the stage Wink

Maybe I'll go running everyday the next two weeks so I'll be well prepared!

If you guys make it down to the pit before me, save me a spot. We're driving all the way down from NJ that day and it's gonna take a bit of time. We might not get there until 3pm-ish and lord knows how many people will be camped out already.
