But we have to remember that when the first human beings came to Earth, there was no such thing called religion.
The humans just lived according to their own life style.
The sexes have just developed in the wrong directions during theese times.

i study politics and we do about feminism and we have some good discussions and i remeber one we had about women in the armed services.

one girl (v feminist) was arguing that the 'discrimnation' in the army was unfair women were just as capable. and tho i agree that no woman shold be judged by sex alone i felt that her argument was fairly misguided.

say a there is a situation in a war - you come round a corner theres a bad guy in ur face. it ends up in hand to hand combat

man against man - thats pretty even ryt it cud go either way.
woman against man - im sorry but we just dont have the body strength.

so i dont think that 'sexism' in workplaces like the army or building etc is sexist at all. its practical.

i hope that was relevant Smile

Well, you have some important aspects, but I don't agree with all of them.
For example the one with men against women.
I know several women who've actually knocked down men. Seriously.
It's not all about the body. Women can be as strong as men by turning their opponents weight against him/her in a fight, for example.
It's all about using your head. Very Happy

^ yes that is true.

but personally i feel men are much better adpated to deal in 'war' situations. both pysically and psychologically.

tho of course there will be expceptions. i would never want to state that male and female divisions are black and white. Smile

lol i try! Razz

I was just thinking about the 'origins' of sexism and I think it difficult to judge where it began.

The way I consider it the differences in sex have always been present. Looking back to what we know and assume about pre-historic life and to what I have read on it men and woman had different roles. The man was primarily the hunter and the woman looked after the home - or cave! - So we can assume that in those times nobody was socially conditioned into those roles they developed naturally. As such this should dismiss ideas of certain feminists who believe women only want to raise children etc because they have been socially conditioned to think this is the ‘correct’ thing to do.

With evolution this biological and perhaps psychological division has remained. What has changed however is society - sparked by technology, discoveries, etc . So when was it that women became suddenly so outraged with the thought that they should raise children?

So what is it that enrages people about sexism? As I myself do not feel offended when jokes are made about not being a good of a driver etc. I just consider it as a competitive nature.

So I would really like to see some ppl explain what it is about it that they dont like.

Yes, the thing you say about the pre-historic age is absolutely correct. Very Happy
When it comes to being offended by "sexism"-jokes, I can say that I haven't been exposed for this. So I'll keep my mouth shut about that one. Wink

People get very outraged when it comes to sexism, though.
I believe that at this point some people get a weird form of discrimination in this issue. No matter if it's things thats concerns sex, sexuality, religion, nationality, race, intelligence, or social class. It's all the same. You can't draw conclusions just by looking at these aspects.
And why is everyone so concerned with political correctness?
Why do people get so offended by it?!
God, it's so frusterating!!!
Thanks again for letting me scream my heart out. Wink

you're right. girls will say they want equality...but only when it's convienent.

That's exactly my stance on the issue. Men and women aren't equal by nature, which doesn't mean that one is superior to the other, just that we're different and nothing can change that. And it's true that women only seem to want equality when it suits them - in fact, I'd go so far as to say that women don't want equality, they want superiority - and that's exactly the kind of unfairness they're supposed to be fighting against!

I might get head over heals now, but at some level, I think that men are born superior. They just act like that from the day they were born. Sorry...

^Well, the question is, do they act like that because they were born that way, or is it that they were taught to act that way by a sexist society from birth?

I think anyone who's sexist is raised that way. Cause think about it. Let's say you were born into a sexist family. Wouldn't you look up to your parents like the average toddler/child? Wouldn't you be raised to be a sexist teenager or adult? The answer would be 'Yes.'

My opinion, all Men and Women are equal. Period.

in ur view are people equal morally, pyschically? or as an enitre whole?

or do u believe they should just be treated equally?

an would a sexist family be one that the mother stayed at home and the father went to work?

i understand the argument.

however differences have existed since before 'society' was formed. its a biological thing.

if we look to the animal world in each species there will generally be a dominant gender. society does not condtion them.

Yes, the young people are influenced by their guardians. Thatr's true. No argument there. But what about the society? Don't they get to be blamed, too?
