I've been doing lessons for a few months now, but not the entire time, stuff kinda stands still when you move country and are left without furniture and guitars for a few weeks.

It's really hard, I keep getting blisters on my fingers (like, blisters, I don't stop playing, and that's what I find in the morning). I'm getting sick of them, but they get better. I just don't seem to be getting better.

I can hardly play anything, and it's really sad. But I love guitar so much, I guess that's my only motivation. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes until you actually start getting somewhere in guitar?

firsly i suggest you get aqainted with your basic major chords.
A to E
i will get you a chord chart soon
so please hang on for that yes ?

practice these chords and moving to each and stuff
this should build dexterity.

You cant actually put a exact time on when youll
start to see improvement
its really a matter of how much you practice
and how fast you build up dexterity.

guitar playing isa beautiful craft in my opinion
so i suggest you dont rush things
take your time

the most accomplished player was once a total douchbag too.
and as i do say constantly to people who try to rush things and get good quick

picassoo was doing stick figures at one point in his life
and toro wasnt toro over night .. .

so yes take your time
dont rush .

Practice makes perfect.

Also, if you use your pinky for the 3rd fret on the first string instead of the middle finger for the G-Chord, It'll make it easier to switch between G and C.

Practice. Just keep practicing it over and over again. Play until your fingers hurt too much to play. When you practice enough, you grow calluses on your fingers. Very Happy

question...
do you know how to do your scales ?
well i find if you practice your scales up and down it builds
dexterity
and helps later down the track for improv and solo writing.

here are soome scale tabs.

Does anyone know the strumming pattern on Good Riddance - Green Day?

I'm sorry, that's probably not meant to go here.

But I want to learn it, and I don't have the chords yet, but I was listening to it and I could only figure out that the beginning went Down, Down, Up, Down.. or is that totally wrong?

Also, if you have played the song, any other tips you could give?

I was practising yesterday, but I had blisters on two of my fingers from the day before, and one of the blisters popped, so I cleaned it and kept playing, and then the strings wore through the skin that had cofered the blister, and the finally through the thin layer underneath the blister and my finger just started bleeding. It was crazy and it hurt. Damned metal strings.

Thanks, I would appreciate that so much.

Yea I was listening to the song lots trying to figure it out, and one thing I did get was that it was very fast.

I know the chords to death now, but any pattern I try doesn't seem to fit, I'm just not sure enough. Thank you so much, you're a hero! I love this song and I would really like to play it without it sounding like I'm trying to kill my guitar.

umm

i've been playing guitar 4 a while

but i taught myself

idk cords and not intend on it
but i can play the famous last words solo

so dont get so hung up on cords at first

1- learn im not okay(franks part)(it took me a few months)

2-learn prison (practice, n if u need help with rythem remember to stroke both up and down, and like drums, listen to it, thenimatate it, dont read it too much if u no what i mean)

3-next is "fat and alone"-pencey prep, great song w/cords , will help with rythem

once u get these down you can play "the end" and if your intrested in soloing, slow down play all the guitar parts to
helena, it helps with

streching your fringers and

moving them faster

then fist solo "demolition lovers" second "im not okay"

dont panic!!!! im not okay isnt difficult it only looks and sounds like it
thats why its so awsome

just bar it at 9 then read it
it will come you
practice

oh ooh

and jam with the record on

youll be surprised at how much you'll be able to accomplish

n e questions send me a message

^^
i guess your tips make some sort of sense
but the chords are fundamentals
and you build up dexterity.
thats probablii the reason why it took you a month to learn im not okae.

though i am intrested in your method of doing things.
i taught myself
and i found it hella hard without the basics.
specially trying prison.
whch is more of an intermediate song
