power cords- practice, yeah its gonna hurt
cords- find diffrent wasy to switch or place ur fingers in diff. postions and see if its easier to switch |

What's the difference between a power chord and a.. not a power chord?
How do you get up to learning barre chords? I mean, eveyrone says you shouldn't skip them, and you should just practice them, but if you can't even get anywhere near to doing the chord when you try it, what the hell are you practicing?
In a nutshell, are there any tips of trying to practice barre chords for a beginner? I'm determined to get them right. |

Posts: 1061 | July 13th, 2007 at 03:07pm A power chord is one where you only strum two strings. A chord is when you strum more.
The only advice I have for bar chords is to just learn them and practice like hell. Eventually they'll come right.
Though this is coming from someone who never payed attention in lessons, and just started teaching himself. |

Then "Seven Nation Army" By the White Stripes, because it's really easy with a simple guitar solo that can get you started.
To some-on up the top that said so,mething about learning chords,
Tabs are good but not always accurate, chords are the main thing ot learn i think because then you can use music books and play them using the right chords. |

I was taking lessons but had to stop.

Oh, and also in most of their power chords, they play only three notes, but they mute the middle one by not putting their finger all the way down, so only two notes sound out. |

Can someone explain palm muting b/c I'm having a difficult time w/ that. Just take the side of your picking hand and rest it against the strings, as near the bridge as possible. Move the palm up and down to achieve the right sound. |

cause i get strumming, but are you just supposed to pluck to strings at the same time...?
cause in a lot of the tabs ive seen, the two strings im supposed to be playing are seperated by a third string thats NOT supposed to be played...
