I actually think the description of them was rather funny and i'm pretty sure Gerard would've been thrilled when he read that they were mentioned. :D |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 83 | May 17th, 2007 at 05:21pm The promo preview is available from Free Comic Book Day, but not the comic itself.
Perhaps the author should have checked out fangirl message boards before describing them...
Huh. I will not be able to buy this, but maybe the library would have it. I'll check it out. Looks good. |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2109 | May 18th, 2007 at 07:29am The whole book mentioning them, and Gerard recommending it in an interview seems a little suspicious to me.
He rec's a book with him in it?
Nothing against the book, personally I loved it, and nothing against him, but does anyone else think a deal went down?
Maybe. |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 46256 | May 18th, 2007 at 04:29pm It's a really good book. It would still be a really good book without the MCR ref in it.
He said in the interview that he was currently reading it no? That part was a hundred pages or so in and he might not've gotten to it yet.
& The Umbrella Academy doesn't come out until September 19. |

Yeah, I know. I was thinking of the preview that came out on Free Comic Book Day... So now I feel stupid...
And yeah, maybe he just didn't get to that part, or maybe thought that MCR fans would get a little surprise when they read the book... |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 2109 | May 20th, 2007 at 02:10pm Yeah, I'm not saying it's bad or anything. I loved the book and had a complete spazz attack when I saw the band in it, I guessi'm just cynical like that.
Sorry if I made anything look bad |

Age: 44 Gender: Female Posts: 688 | May 21st, 2007 at 12:35am I bet, if anything, Joe's manager called up MCR's manager and asked, "hey, Stephen King's son is writing this story about a rock star and a ghost and he wants include you in the book, is that cool?." Andthe band being cool like they are probably said, "hell yeah, send us a copy when it comes out." |

Age: 40 Gender: Female Posts: 991 | May 21st, 2007 at 01:20am i must admit i laughed when i read that in the book, it just tickled me to think that MCR would be in a book, usually authors talk about old bands, but to have a relatively (i said Relatively!) new band was just cool.
i personally loved the book, it was interesting and it kept me turning page after page, i would really recommend reading it. It's in large type and it's not clogged down with painfully detailed character analysis, it's descriptive and straight to the action.
very worth a read, even if you're just looking for the bit about MCR. |

It's what they'd want, right? xD
