No need; Google and YouTube have all the resources you need! The D40 is what I started with and what many Nikon users start with, so I am so glad to hear it! Let me find a few resources for you and I'll be back.

geez, haven't posted here in ages!

anyhow, i need some help. i'm thinking about purchasing a compact camera to bring when I'm not able to bring my DSLR. i'm thinking about the new nikon coolpix S8000. does anyone have that one? in that case, what do you think about it?
and if no one has it, does anyone have another one of the lastest coolpix and what do you think about it?
it would be very kind if someone would help me out (:

This is a photograph i entered for a local competition, it was freezing taking this on top of a bridge looking down into the city centre at 9:00 pm looking like a total idiot
it's another panorama.
it was worth it (Y)
it's only small and low quality because i don't want to put a bigger version up because of the competition and such.
Image
here's a different version
the competition was basically photos of Newport. (:
i hope i win something because i'm skint xD

Girl those photos are fucking amazing. The first one looks a tad strange with the lighting on his face, almost like it should be brighter? Can't explain. It looks as if that are itself is underexposed. Maybe it's just me. But shit. Awesome stuff. Wow.

And Sauna! Lmao I love looking like an idiot in the name of photography. xDDD That's really a stunning shot; I'd actually die to see it black and white. How large is the full-res? You ought to print it out as a framed poster for your wall, or something cool.

wow, stephanie, thank you so much xD it means a lot to me that you think my photographs are even decent. aha. i love getting feedback from you guys here on ino, it helps me make my work even better.

your comment about the first photo makes a lot of sense. it probably has to do with how i post-processed it. i had to do a world of editing on that one to make the lighting look decent... this was the original...... little bright? D: lol

YIKES! Yeah. Maybe try taking both the original AND your finished image...put the processed one on top of the original, then erase the processed one with about 50% opacity or so, with a very feathered brush? Only on his face though.

I did a portrait session yesterday, I...am conflicted about the results. They're okay images. :/ As always all the shizz is on my flickr but I am too lazy to make every image link.

OMGOMGOMG. So I have discovered photoshop Actions.

if you use photoshop, you just download them and open them, then go to Windows > Actions to show your actions window, then select an action and hit "play," and it edits for you lmao.

I know I am way late catching on, but omfg.

There are some awesome actions here.

A few images edited with...well, new-to-me techniques I guess? Some of them are actions from others, and some are all mine.

^ the third is my favorite. lovely colors and lighting ^_^

some of my bass. more on my flickr.

i'm not 100% happy with the ones below... i've never tried taking photos like this, so i just gave it a shot. considering the circumstances i was working under (a backdrop made of sketch paper and lighting from the lamp on my bedside table...) i think they turned out pretty cool. more on my flickr too.
