well the way i was taught was to draw strum power from the wrist moving it up and down the strings in patterns.
like
downtrokes then up strokes.
then you learn to variate.
but some people like to draw the strumming from their shoulders [example: billie joe armstrong & Frank iero]
so yeh just work on the wrist movement by strumming down and up and so forth
then when you get more used to it youll gain more control?
anyone like to variate on this ? |

Practice. You just have to keep practicing by just alternating those chords over and over again. |

But, in a while calluses will form and you wont feel a thing!

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 9443 | April 28th, 2007 at 01:58pm I started around Christmastime when I got my guitar and I've been playing piano fo like 7 years now so I already know all the notes and everything, but I had to learn what note each string and everything. It was easier because my dad is in a band and he's been playing guitar since he was my age. He's a pretty good teacher. I actually think I'm doing quite well. =] |
Mud Really Not Okay
Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 749 | April 28th, 2007 at 03:23pm I was always told to put my fingers in vinegar when they were sore. I'm not too sure it did much tho... I was told it would help them toughen up quicker. But I secretly think it was to get me to shut up about my fingers. Anyone else heard the vinegar thing? |

i've been playing guitar just less than year, still hopeless but oh well
the change from c to bmaj7? the frets used are in the same range so just practice getting your fingers around it over and over again.
sometimes you gotta play that 6 and a half hours LOL
btw is it just me or do we always learn skip to my lou and ode to joy, whichever instrument we play. I used to play the piano and those were two of my first songs played, then when i started to learn beginner melody on guitar those songs popped up again! |
