Saving Suffocation
Have you ever held your breath?
Let eyes roll back into head
It feels like controlling death
Save for the fact you’re not dead
Soon you feel a tightened pain
Face turns shades—to hide the lie
Your heart sounds like falling rain
But on the outside—you won’t cry
If there’s family, you are alone
Falling to the floor, just sleep
An EMERGENCY! Screams the phone
But there’s no one here to weep
In the end, you felt some call
Whispering, “You’ve done no crime”
So why, indeed, should you fall?
“My sweet dear, it’s not your time” |

The poem's about: a person referring to murder.
My school refused to print any of my other works in the Lit. Mag. so this is a nice jab in their general direction. *coughs*
Lmao. xD
thought it was about murder. very genius how you wrote it so it seemed innocent but it actually isnt. but to be honest i cant see you writing nice poem about rainbows and lollipops so the school will just have to use that poem. did they use it? |

The mirror does proclaim,
There is no aim to fame—
Just murder, blood, and hell!
Oh Adeline,
Why are you listening—
To the same
Washed out tunes!?
Where is the music?
Where lays the blame!?
To just confuse it
For fucking fame!
Oh Adeline, sweet Adeline
Why are you listening,
With tears glistening?!
I could be cursing
You to be shot,
But throw a catchy tune—
All is forgot!
Adeline, this isn’t love,
My sweet, when push comes to shove
YOUR LIPS CAN’T EVER TELL.

Friend, oh, friend
No friend of mine,
You whispered slowly
“I’m hard to find”
You didn’t dawdle
You didn’t pause
Simply asking
“What are flaws?”
My eyes are fading
I know not a word
Oh, friend
I should not have heard
“I need someone to say”
What I don’t know
But need to hear
Veins scream and flow
Oh, friend, sweet friend
I asked you to lie
But you grinned, one question:
“Will you help me die?”

My veins are the pencil
That writes my sad tale
My eyes are the keeper
That knows when I fail—
Oh irony wrapped in bliss
Such rage I have begun to feel
Oh where did my reality go to?
Such wounds like these have yet to heal—
My ribs are the binding
That holds a bleak life
My fingers are the murderer
That stabs with a knife—
Oh what a haze I’m in
Such aggravating fog
Oh to be stuck in quick sand!
Such thoughts stream in to clog—
My face can never tell you
That I kill myself to stay
My teeth must be zippered now
That for happiness, I pay. |
