It's about his unsureness about God, maybe. He's going through a tough patch in his life and is questioning the existance of God. And now for doubting, he's afraid he's going to hell.

You don't know a thing about my sins
How the misery begins
You don't know
So I'm burning, I'm burning.

Basically, he's asking, "God, if you're there, save us."

...Someone save us.

Heaven help us now.
Come crashing down
And hear the sound
As you fall.

I'm feeling a bit of resentment towards Jesus in these lyrics.

And would you pray for me. (He knows God wants him on his side)
And make me say your name. (Though he doesn't want to...he's being forced into it.)
And will you lay for me. (Jesus dying for him.)
And make a saint of me. (Considering conforming...? He's trying to decide if he should repent and become pious.)
Cause I'll give you all the nails you need. ("Go ahead Jesus, be crucified." )
Cover me in gasoline again. (Aww, screw it, I'm gonna burn in hell anyway.)

This is clearly him wrestling with religion. Perhaps he's trying to decide if he should become a reformed sinner.

yeah i agree with that, but i also feel it's a bit of a speculation about the state of the world and how people act. alot of the time they look to shift blame rather than taking responsibility themsleves, or pray for god to help them rather than do anything productive in order to lend a hand to the good of the world. if everyone worked for it, half the problems in the world could be eradicated and wouldn't exist, but instead we sit and complain and want god or someone else to do it. especialy with terrorism and famine.

just my thoughts

Wow. Niiice...Very Happy
I always thought it was very religious.
Honestly, I thought it was either....A) He's mocking religion, or B) He wants to be religious.

I always pictured it being like a song saying that the world really needs help. the world and a lot of people in it is so screwed up that he just can't take it anymore and is crying out for someone (God maybe) to save him or save the world or something.
but now that i look into it more, i think Dancing to your death's definition is better...idk im bad at this.

''hear the sound
the angels come screaming
down your voice
I hear you've been bleeding'' it's like the world is ending The Angels come Screaming

''make your choice
they say you've been pleading
someone save us''- there's only a little while left and the person he's writing to w/e has to make up their mind. Perhaps they have been praying to be saved.

''heaven help us now
come crashing down
we'll hear the sound
as you're falling down'' it soudns like heaven is crashing down on them, as in it's becoming into one places God promised man. Paradise perhaps.

''I'm at this old hotel
but can't tell if I've been breathing or sleeping
or screaming or waiting for the man to call
and maybe all of the above
cause mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps
while spitting out the blood and screaming
someone save us''

and will you pray for me?
or make me say don't leave?
and will you lay for me?
or make us change?

cause I'll give you all the nails you need
cover me in gasoline
wipe away those tears of blood again
and the punchline to the joke is asking
someone save us'' He believes he won't get into this new place, or is afraid about dying. he wants o be saved. duh.

''and would you pray for me?
(you don't know a thing about my sins)
(how the misery begins)
or make us say don't leave?
(you don't know)
(so I'm burning, I'm burning)
and will you lay for me?
(you don't know a thing about my sins)
(how the misery begins)
or make us change?
(you don't know)
(cause I'm burning, I'm burning)

cause I'll give you all the nails you need
(I'm burning, I'm burning again)
cover me in gasoline again '' he has apperantly sinned a lot and is afraid of what is coming. He's suggesting he might be in hell (Cause I'm burning, I'm burning)

Maybe he's praying his ex to take him back? To save him or? Like in;

Fly on Guran's wings:

''and would you pray for me?
(you don't know a thing about my sins)
(how the misery begins)
or make us say don't leave?
(you don't know)
(so I'm burning, I'm burning)
and will you lay for me?

Maybe he has been cheating or did something bad and kinda ruined the relationship and is asking her/he (whoever wrote it and whoever it's written to), to take he(or her for that sake) back?

Gerard wants to be saved, but every time the thought enters his mind...he doesn't want to change. He is so used to what he has become, that he's afraid. I believe that God will someday help MCR find the truth. It may be the day before they die, but as long as they know the truth..there is nothing be be afraid of. I have actually prayed for them to find God. I know it sounds stupid, but I believe that they deserve immortal life in heaven, like we all do.

Thats not stupid, they deserve it like all of us.
sappy moment warning: I believe that MCR songs truely saves people and it makes us think about mistakes we may make and it makes us feel like we can relate to the songs and them, wich is why i fell I know them even though I've never met them in my life(and probably never will)

Yeah, I think for them it's sort of all about relating to their songs...not necessarily the death in their songs.

You guys are good at this, and I agree with you. Both of the theories(sp?) that have been sugested. That he is asking if there is a God out there and if heaven really excists and that it's sort of a call out to the world, if you get me. That he's saying that we need help, cause the world's so fucked up.
