Jillyduck Killjoy Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 36 | This song is just pretty much about the band like the whole rough part "...don't fuck about a kennedy..." like they're telling people what they're about and maybe the whole chorus is about how they can never be back to where they were before...? tell me if this is all just junk |
Far Too Overdramatic Motor Baby Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 957 | I think that the bit where he sings "Do you wanna hold my hand? Could you sign this photograph, 'Cause I'm your biggest fan" is kind of mocking the 'fake' fans, if you will. The ones who'd just leave them "lying here". And the ''come on angel don't you cry'' is telling everyone that everything will be alright... or maybe i'm completely wrong? |
Solitary Style. Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 574 | I figured that this song was a lament about the way the world is. First verse talks about all the children who are born into this world, unloved and unwanted. Second verse is about those children clinging to their heroes, including MCR. The stanza that begins: "not here to pay a compliment", I think, is MCR's response to them, basically saying, "We're in the same boat--we can't find our way home either." That's just my little theory. I am unsure, though, about the meaning behind: "Well, my gun fires seven different shades of shit! So what's your favorite color, punk?" |
Miketh Way. Salute You in Your Grave Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 3119 | i think that its about this guy who hates someone, and somehow the only way he or she can get back is through that person. Maybe a better explanation is that, a person misses someone that they loved - " cant get back in your arms" "can't find the way" - the person cant find the persons way home on their own. |
rebel-in-black Killjoy Age: 30 Gender: - Posts: 81 | i think this is about a person who is trying to find their selfs, maybe it has to do with love "just to get back in her arms" |
TheNewLondonFire Motor Baby Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 763 | To me it sounds like a sarcastic way of getting back at the fake fans and the ones who pine over them too much when they aren't practically mauling them at a show. The whole, "Do you wanna hold my hand, would you sign this photograph ' cause I'm your biggest fan. Would you leave me lying here?" to me sounds like they're almost making fun of those fans that absolutely go nuts when they see MCR. Ya know, the ones that totally go past the band members' space bubbles? "Gonna take off all my skin, Tear apart all of my insides," -Maybe they're mad? This one gets me. :/ "When they rifle in, Mom and Dad think you'll be saved" -Maybe if a kid's suicidal and their parents send them to rehab or something, they're saying the parents think everything that happened before won't exist. "They never had the time, They're gonna medicate your lives, You were always born a crime, We salute you in your grave." -The first two lines go along with the last part. -The second two lines to me sound like a mockery, "Oh, poor you, no one ever cared.", to the people that fake it and say they're so hurt. "Can't find my way home, But it's through you and I know, What I'd do just to get back in her arms, Can't find my way home, But it's through you and I know, What I'd do just to get back in her arms." -Maybe it's baout them being so overwhelmed with touring and interviews and writing that they can't find how to get back to how simple their lives were before everything exploded? I don't know.. "[Spoken in background] (Well my gun fires seven different shades of shit, So what's your favorite color, punk?)" -That just makes me laugh every time. It's my favourite line. "We're not here to pay a compliment, Or sing about the government, Oxycontin genocide, Adolescent suicide, I'll give you my sincerity, {Don't give} a fuck about a Kennedy, Here's what I've got to say." - "Adolescent suicide" kind of goes along with the first two stanzas. -They're going to say they're sorry to you, no matter what, if you're faking or not. -They're not gonna talk shit and they don't care about who's who and what's going on with the world, they're gonna tell you what they want to say. "Come on Angel, don't you cry" -This could be two things: either they're telling their fans not to cry (Haha, no way!) and that everything will get better, or once again they're being sarcastic and telling the fakers "Don't your cry , you're just fine." |
Music::Speaks Bleeding on the Floor Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 1026 | This song...definatley one of my favorites. I especially like the bridge where it breaks out with "we're not here to pay a compliment or sing about the government.." But yeah, anyways...now that I look at it, I agree about the fan references in it. |

Solitary Style. Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 574 | I dunno about that--why would the song be called, "My Way Home is Through You," if it's addressing phony fans? It doesn't really add up to me. I think it's about genuine fans, personally. Maybe they take things to extremes, and MCR points that out, but I don't think they would mock and insult their fans. |
TheNewLondonFire Motor Baby Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 763 | Solitary Style: Hmm, probably. To me it just sounded like they were mocking them. :/ |
ThAtSmRsWaY2U Killjoy Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 35 | Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I think that the song is something thta MCR wrote for all of their loyal fans and especially the ones that say "MCR saved my life!" (cool to think that they wrote a song for you isn't it?) Those that are still with them, and maybe those who still had problems and ended up comitting suicide. But, the only people who know for sure are Gerard Mikey Frankie Ray and Bob. |
Intoxicating; Poser. Really Not Okay Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 703 | Gonna take off all my skin, Tear apart all of my insides-They're going to be themselves to their fans/friends. When they rifle in,-Fans going to the concert Mom and Dad think you'll be saved They never had the time They're gonna medicate your lives You were always born a crime-Talking directly to their fan base. We salute you in your grave Can't find my way home-Can't find their way back to what they knew But it's through you and I know-They believe their way back to comfort and familiarity is through the music [Fan] What I'll do Just to get back in her arms-Possibly talking about a lover? Can't find my way home But it's through you and I know What I'll do Just to get back in your ar-ar-ar-arrrms (Oh my God! Vile, seven different shades of shit-Seven: lucky number; everyone thinks they're worthless So what's your favorite color, punk?)-Possibly talking from a jock's view? Making fun of guy punks who like pink? Do you wanna hold my hand? Could you sign this photograph? 'Cause I'm your biggest fan-The typical fan discussion after the show. Would you leave me lying here?-They think some "biggest fans" are just posing; they're wondering if when all the commotion dies down will they still be huge fans? We're not here to pay a compliment And sing about the government Oxycontin genocide Adolescent suicide Give him my sincerity Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy-Saying that some of the things the "biggest fans" think about their music is wrong; they don't want to fit into music trends of singing about this stuff. Heres what I got to say: Can't find my way home But it's through you and I know What I'll do Just to get back in her arms Can't find my way home But it's through you and I know What I'll do Just to get back in her ar-ar-ar-arrrms Can't find my way home But it's through you and I know What I'll do Just to get back in her arms Can't find my way home But it's through you and I know What I'll do Just to get back in her ar-ar-ar-arrrms Can't find the way Can't find the way Can't find the wa-yay-yay-yay Can't find the way Can't find the way Can't find the wa-yay-yay-yay C'mon, Angel, Don't you cry C'mon, Angel, Don't you cry C'mon, Angel, Don't you cry C'mon, Angel, Don't you cry-Speaking either to the fans or to a lover; they don't want the person to hurt anymore or to show weakness. By calling them "Angel" makes them think that they're worth it... Eh. That's what I think. -Shrug- -Erin EDIT: I actually agree that this could directly talking to the posers who only like the music because it's currently "in". And I definately agree that the "C'mon, Angel, don't you cry" part is sarcasm: talking directly to the posers. |
My house of Vampires Killjoy Age: - Gender: - Posts: 3 | Woah, I personally thought that this song was about the Patient, after he died and his organs are transplanted and he tries to use the recipiants body to get back to his love. After reading all your posts I realise I may have been taking it a wee bit too literally. |
girl interrupted. Salute You in Your Grave Age: 29 Gender: Female Posts: 2792 | The beginning makes it sound a bit like Teenagers, with the whole "Parents are trying to control" theme to me. The chorus kinda sounds like She has left Him, and he feels that he needs to have Her in His life and he can't live without Her. The bit about "7 different shades of shit" could be like a disregard to authority or everything bright and happy, because He's so sad about this breakup. The next verse is kinda like all the fans being all "I'm your biggest fan" and stuff, where MCR could be getting stressed with all the touring or something. The next, very aggressive bit, I think is saying "I don't give a fuck anymore" or "Music should be about how you feel, not about political shit." "Can't find the way" could be that He can't get back together with Her, and "C'mon angel don't you cry" could be that He finds out that She's really upset about the breakup too, and She wants to get back together with Him and She doesn't realise that He feels the same way, or it could be MCR talking to the fans. That probably made no sense whatsoever, but ah well. |
firephoenix0013 Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 16 | For anyone who wants to find these songs (My Way Home Is Through You, Heaven Help Us, and Kill All Your Friends, and Astro Zombies), they are on YouTube with really cool AMVs to go with them. If you want to buy the songs for iPods or MP3s, take the other suggestions. |
firephoenix0013 Killjoy Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 16 | Intoxicating; Poser.: I agree. I think the "her" is refering to a gf too. (Note: it DOESN"T have to be Gerard's gf. The CDs always say the lyrics and music are written by MCR, so it could be any of the guys. |
Solitary Style. Thinking Happy Thoughts Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 574 | Okay--here's a question. Would the official lyrics be printed in a booklet anywhere? Because I've heard the line two ways: "Well, my gun fires seven different shades of shit," and "Oh my God! Vile, seven different shades of shit." I rather like the gun one, because it paints a lovely picture, but I'd really like to know for sure. And of course, I've no idea what either of them could mean. Edit: I just realised that there are seven colors in the rainbow. (What an epiphany, I know...) I wonder if that would help anyone solve that riddle. |
