If he'd been charged to begin with, it would have been an entirely different story, but holding someone for 5 years without charging them, and subjecting them to torture as well is just completely wrong.
No matter what he did, or was going to do, or who he supported, he should have been treated humanely, otherwise the people detaining him are no better than him.
I definitely don't agree with terrorism, but I sure as hell don't agree with taking away people's rights either.

Indeed. I guess that's just a fact of war. Everyone doing disgustingly inhumane things to one another. Everyone making out like what the enemy is doing is so much worse, making out like what they are doing is right. The worse the enemy gets, the angrier and more callous they get in return, and vice versa. It's one gigantic hate-fueled cycle.

It's all so pointless. Humans never have been a race to learn from their mistakes.

But what disgusts me more is the people who encourage the war. The presidents and the business owners who try to instigate war simply because it benefits them [usually financially].

Has anybody been following, or have an opinion on this whole cricket debacle?
Seems to me that the Indians are being absolutely ridiculous, and working their way through the whole Australian team (first it was Symonds, then Ponting, then Hogg, and now Clarke).
I think the reason that guy got reported for calling Symonds a monkey is because he got that at every game on their recent tour in India, even the crowd were getting in on it and imitating monkeys everytime he went on the field. India got a lot of bad press from that, and yet Singh still did it again. Of course he deserved to be punished.

If anybody remembers, a couple (maybe 5 or so) years ago, Darren Lehman got suspended for calling the Indians a bunch of black something-or-other's, but the Australians didn't suspend the series, or burn models of the umpires/players.
That's just taking it way too far.

Not to mention, I'll be pissed off if India go home, because I bought tickets yesterday to one of the one-day matches xD

And awwwww, Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban are having a baby ^^,
It was confirmed this morning by her publicist

I was bitching about India and what sore losers they're being this morning. It's like they're using any excuse to throw the tour in jeopardy. They can't beat us, so they whinge their way out of it.

What Singh done was downright wrong. The treatment the Australian's got over there, Roy in particular, was appalling. And, instead of discouraging their supporters from such racist behaviour, they're encouraging it on the field. The instant Australian crowds take it too far, Punter is right there telling them to quit it. It's only a shame other country's captains can't be so mindful.

Lol, on 7 news they were saying how people are calling for Ponting to resign his captaincy because of his post-match celebrations. Retarded much. I didn't realise pumping your fists into the air was so over the top. And after a stunning end like that, an end that came down to the last 8 minutes, who wouldn't be that ecstatic? Funny how no one said boo about the Indians' celebrations after they got Ponting out which were far more over the top than anything Ponting did.

It's like they'll do anything to rain on the Aussie's parade.

That's complete bullshit, tbh.
Ponting told the umpires because it's getting out of hand.
Symonds was getting the exact same thing in India when they went over there, Harbijhan Singh started the whole thing, then the crowd caught on and were abusing him too, and when an Aussie in the crowd stood up to them, the Indian security kicked him out. Really fair isn't it.
Why on earth should they put up with that here, in their own country, as well?

And yeah, I'm not denying the Aussies haven't done anything like that before, if you read my last post I actually pointed out that Darren Lehmann got suspended for saying something.
But, the difference is, the Australians don't have a massive whinge about it and threaten to boycott their tours, just because they've been caught out doing the wrong thing.

Honestly, the mentality of so many people here (in Australia) is ridiculous.
It's like they think we're the only ones capable of being racist, and when we accuse anybody else of being racist, obviously that's racist too.

Just saw on the Ten news that not only are they burning models of the umpires, they've moved on to burning pictures of Ponting and Symonds, and the Australian flag.
That's just absolutely ridiculous.

I think it's gone too far now. They should just leave and go back to India.
They are getting increasingly personal in their insults, the extent of which are completely unjustified.

^^ Agreed. Though I'm yet to hear a bad word about the Indians. Everything they've done (that I have seen) has been presented in the news as fact, stated in as neutral a tone as it gets. Yet anything Australia has done has been portrayed as terrible, unsportsmanlike or racist.

This stems from all the cricket 'greats' who are pissed off with Ponting. Their old school 'what happens on the field, stays on the field' methodology is outdated. They need to understand that we're no longer in an age that turns a blind eye to racism, and if it happens on our cricketing fields we're going to say something about it.

The more they talk about him the more they're fuelling his popularity. All his fellow dickhead teens think he's a hero. And he clearly hasn't learnt his lesson.

The thing that gets me is that he's actually getting offered jobs as a promoter because of this.
Seriously, what the fuck.
And he got charged with producing child pornography too.
He's a knob. Enough said

The thing is, those sort of parties happen every weekend and yes, the host even sends out invites over MySpace.
It's just never really happened to that level. The "older" people are actually appalled by this, but I've heard of parties that have gotten way outta control too, and no one makes a big deal.
Yes, because there was 500 people invited, sure he got a bit more publicity.
But underage drinking, and frightened neighbours, is an every-weekend aspect to many parties.

A friend of mine had to cancel her party because someone who wasn't invited got pissed and advertised it on MySpace.

It's funny how people are treating this like it's a new thing.

I just feel so sorry for his poor parents. He's absolutely loving the publicity etc, but how on earth would you face for example going back to work, or to the shops, or pretty much anywhere at the moment if you were them?

I think the reason it got so much publicity was more because of the way the underage kids treated the police when they turned up.
They pelted them with bottles, and they had to bring in a helicopter and the dog squad to get things under control, and ended up costing $20 000 in damages.
I know there's massive underage parties all the time, but they generally aren't that bad. I know things get out of hand quickly when you have a lot of underage people drinking, but most people realise that when the police arrive, you need to calm it down a bit. I've been to a hell of a lot of parties where the police have been called because things are getting a bit out of control, and I have never seen people start attacking them or throwing glass bottles at them/their car or whatever. Yeah, you get some idiots who try to take the police on, but they're generally in the minority.
I think it's the reaction these kids had when the police turned up that really brought it into the news.

And also how much of an up-himself fuckwit that Corey kid is.
I seriously cannot get over how idiodic he is.

He's ugly anyway.
Things would be different if he was attractive, lmfao.
Not really, but yeah, I guess that's true Asha.

I feel sorry for his parents, like someone else said.
You watch the amount of people who turn around and say it's the parents' fault for leaving him on his own, or not bringing him up correctly.
