No they aren't. You canine teeth are for ripping and tearing meat. (you can use them to bit into other foods, but they are made for meat) All animals that naturally eat meat have canine teeth. You do not chew with your canine teeth.

really? i always thought canine teeth were for ripping and tearing taffy.

Some herbivores also have canines for things such as tearing the skin of fruits in the wild, so that isn't entirely off-base I suppose.

I'm a vegetarian (because my parents won't let me be a vegan). Since becoming one, I've been healthier, and I eat a much bigger variety than I had before. I believe it's just the ethical thing to do. I don't really want to eat something used to be alive. Plus, I think humans are better suited to be herbivores that to be omnivores.

Die! Die! Die! :
We have cainine teeth for a reason.

Space Brain:
humans are born with incisors for cutting things, canines for tearing meat, and molars for chewing. humans are designed to eat everything other than extremely fibrous food. you could quite easily say that because humans can't digest them, we shouldn't eat sweetcorn, or tomato pips, but we still do. humans can eat most things, and we are designed to be able to eat most things, including meat.

Just to name a few :p Anyway. Ahem. I forgot where I found this, but it's pretty informative. I didn't read through the whole thread, so do forgive me if this has already been seen here.

DIE! DIE! DIE!:
Your arguments about veganism and vegetarianism being unnatural are COMPLETELY irrelevant. Why does everything have to be natural for it to be okay? I bet you use air condition and wear clothes with polyester; those things are not natural but it doesn't seem to stop anyone from using or wearing them.
