Seriously though, if you live somewhere where you're under the legal age.
Don't call yourself straight edge.
You can't do that stuff anyway, so why call yourself straight edge?

I mean, I know kids who are like,
'OmGz i Am sXe !4323!!"
& they're like, 14.
Seriously, come on now. You can't do half the stuff sXe doesnt allow already anyway.
It's just so annoying; & it's also become part of the new "scene".

But other than that.
It's more than fine with me.
I think it's awesome when peolple are straight edge.

A friend of mine thinks that you're not straight edge if you're under eighteen.
You're just following the law.
Any opinions?

In the US, I agree.
But other countries have different legal ages.

I was straight edge for a year. I learned about it from Erin and I thought it was really amazing. So I decided to adopt that type of lifestyle. Then I sort of just drifted away from it for most of my Freshman year. I'm not sure if I'll go back to it though.

I think the whole idea of straight edge is fine. I actually have respect for people like that.
And yes, the fourteen year olds who are like "oh, I'm edge" are just weird, I do agree.
It's just when anyone, legal age or not who are all like "oh, I'm edge" and rub it in your face make me angry.
And I don't care too much for the whole, writing an "X" on the back of your hand.
I though it was originally supposed to be on your wrist. But I could be wrong.

I respect straight edge people. They have amazing will power. I could never do that, I love caffine too much. I'm cool with it as long as they don't try to force it onto other people.

I've never heard of Straight Edge. (I'm "out of the loop".) It's a terrific idea, though. Good one to consider when I get older.

I disagree , I don’t think age matters. Sure it my be illegal in the U.S but kid are still drinking, smoking and having sex! I think choosing to be sXe underage is the same, cause your choosing to say no…when drink, smoking, drug and sex is very much apart of most teens lives. I mean im 15 and know kids that do all that stuff and the law is not even an issues to them. It is stupid when people become Straight edge just because it trendy or “scene“. It should mean more then that, it should be more personal.

I respect people who are sXe soooo much.

I am straight edge too and I intend on keeping it that way. I have no interest in drugs, alcohol or casual sex.

I think this was a brilliant idea.
The world would be a much happier place if more people were sXe.

Way to go straight edge people.

It's too hardcore a life for me though. I like my chicken and beer.

You can keep the chicken, just not the beer.
People think straight edge means veganism.
I know people who think straight edge means celibacy.
It doesn't.

Eh, I dunno...

If you want to have a healthy body, then that's just neat. But I hate it when people get fanatical.
I like beer. Leave me alone >_<

And I don't see the reason to put a label on it?
Avoid those things if you feel that you don't want to live that way. But how the hell did it become 'scene' ?

straight edge (sXe ) can also be XXX

it started in all ages clubs
where kids who were underage had three X's put on their hands so bartenders would know.

then people who we aganist smoking, drugs and drinking started to do it no matter what age.

some straight egde people are vegans, some a vegitarians, some are not into promiscous sex. These are not reqiremnets sXe is just smoking, recreational drug use and drinking

I have great respect for people who are straight edge.

I hate it when kids that are 13 and 14 say they are straight edge but as soon as they get in a situation where drugs and alcohol are involved they cave in. A lot of kids, well at least where I live, say they are straight edge because its “scene.”

Some people call me straight edge but I don’t call myself that because I’m not legal age to be smoking and drinking so to me I’m just following the law.

there is a keg of Guninnes in my basement,
i haven't touched it
not because i'm 17
merely because i don't want to.
i'll be 18 in august
and when i go to college i doubt i'll be drinking - i just don;t like it

as to why it's "scene" at scene shows is where they started doing the XXX on hands.
Not to mention Andy, patrick & pete of Fall Out Boy are sXe
and Davey and other guy in afi( can't think of name) are straightedge

i respect people that are sXe.
im considering going sXe when im older. maybe if i havent become a druggie and drunk.
but achol(sp?) has NEVER seemed interesting to me. neither has smoking, drugs or sex. people at my school said that they are sXe and they would ALMOST ALWAYS show up to school drunk. that kinda made me mad. people that are sXe must have alot of willpower.
just my thoughts

My mom asked me what straight edge was yesterday Rolling Eyes
Even though I'm underage, I consider myself somewhat straight edge. I follow it loosely, which basically means I don't cut caffeine out of my diet and such. I couldn't handle all of that without caffeine.

i think its a great idea
it is a very respactebal choice

Those who are sXe, I have a lot of respect for you. That takes a lot of self control and will power. I don't think I would be able to do that.

But people who aren't even legal age to do the things that those who are sXe are agaisnt, are not straight edge. You can't pledge to not do something if you aren't even legal age to do it.

I actually respect the straight edge people, who are not of legal age, because that's the point in your life when you're more likely to be pressured into doing these sorts of things.
I think it takes alot of balls to say "no" to drugs or alcohol at the age of thirteen or fourteen, when "all the cool kids are doing it", and are pressuring you into trying it.
