Well I am for gay rights as are most people on this board.

I think that if there really is a seperation of church and state, which I don't truly believe exists, then the law would have already been past that gays are aloud to marry in any state. The only reason why people aren't aloud in some states is because America is a Christian country. A humongous majority of people in office are Christians, and stronge Christians at that. It is purely selfish reasons that keep all states from passing the law. If the people in office just owned up to not ever wanting gays to get married because they think it's "sinful" and discusting, and that the Bible should be taken more seriously, instead being "politically correct and saying that they don't care, that they don't have a problem with gays, and that there should be a serperation of church and state. Because by saying that they are lying.

The reason homosexual marriage isn't allowed in Australia is because in 1961, the 'Marriage Act' was passed, and that stated only marriage between male and female were accepted.
So here, there is an actual law against homosexual marriages.
And as Australia doesn't have a 'Bill of Rights' per say, the establishment of set human rights was instigated in 1985, which is fairly recent, considering.
In these rights, Australians have 'the right to marry a person of choice and protection of families' - as long as it doesn't go against the Marriage Act.
In a sense, it's quite the contradiction too.
(We were discussing this in my Legal Studies class today.)
However, my teacher - who, might I add, is pro-homosexual marriage - stated that the right of marriage is only to protect those forced into arranged marriages.

i support gay marriage. i have about ten gay friends. they are all good people who deserve the best. if you don't like same sex marriages, don't marry someone of the same sex. it doesn't hurt anyone. simple as that.

im 100% for gay rights and homosexuality.

and im not just saying that because i am homosexual.

i feel that its kind of un-constitutional (in america) to not let gays and other homosexuals get married, unaileable rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness

so shouldnt marriage in homosexual or heterosexual sircumstances fall under that?

I am for gay and lesbian rights in the world.
I mean, why can't everybody accept who we are and be allowed to love each other?
My best friend came forward and told me and the people he love that he was gay.
I was very proud of him and wished him everything well.
He told me that he was afraid for the reactions that he would get.
There were reactions, positive and negative, but with some support and love, everything were okay again.
I love my best friend awfully much, and want him to be happy.
I really think he is now.
I can't imagine the pain and suffering he had to go through with hiding his real personality and sexual attraction.

So if you are attracted to the same sex you are, don't be afraid to show it.
Show people who you are.
You are a beautiful person and human being, trust me.

We're all just a bunch of people stacked on the same planet, aren't we?

I think the government is in this topic to much.
i beleieve in a total sepperation of church and state.
it should be leagal but if a church doesnt want to go threw with it that is fine.
as far as i know morman churches will gladly marry homosexual couples.
i think that homosexual couples should ba able to adopt.
the only reason that anyone should not be able to adopt is if they would be unfit patrents.

xXxLadyofSorrowXxX: This isn't a discussion thread to discuss what MCR say or believe.
This is a thread for people to discuss what they think of homosexuality, why they think it's right or wrong, and not to have someone tell them they have no right to listen to a band that they like because they have different beliefs.
I feel it was rather bigoted of you to say that.

well i support gay marriage because is you are straight you can get married anytime you want (if your an adult of course) without being in love but if your gay you have to deal with what the government and all the rescritions and then you can only get a what is it a civil union or something like that

as for adopting, why not would you rather the kid be raised by straight parents that are druggies or that beat them or a gay family that would love the child
when you are raising a kid i dont think it matters who you are atracted to

the government should legalize it cause the only reason they wont is because of their christan beliefs which should not be brought into the government- government separate from church -isnt it in the constution or something?

xXxLadyofSorrowXxX:

Your entire post using MCR quotes is a borderline personal attack.
This is the Discussion Board, where things are discussed calmly and equally.
Please read the DB rules before posting something like that.

Also, I would need a source for those quotes.
If you cannot provide one, they are not credible, and I'll ask a Mod to take them down.

Not to rip on you personally, just so that the likely hood of gaining wrong
information on this thread is reduced.

I thought I had already said this but whatever. Rolling Stones magazine, Warped Tour '05 in Va, and I'm not exactly sure where he said the other one but I know he said it. Why do you think I would put words in his mouth? I'm not a liar, thank you. And why exactly do you "need" a source from me? Are you a moderator? No? Well, until you are one, please don't act like I "need" to do anything you tell me. Okay? Very Happy

^You did put it in, but it was removed because I reported it.
Like I said before, I needed a source to make the quotes credible,
especially since one was obviously false.

Now, let's drop it, before it becomes spam.
Spam is also not tolerated here, so it is best to avoid it.

Oh jeez, can't you guys just get back to the topic?
And xXxLadyofSorrowXxX, show some respect, Ruby knows what she's talking about and she can beat you fair and square any day of the week.

Religion should not play such a large role in the way we govern our society.
We turn to religion because we want to follow something that we believe will show us the way in light or dark times, etc.
But that does not mean that faith should influence whether or not two people of the same gender should be allowed to fall in love, get married, etc.
Sorry if I'm restating a ton of people. >>

Again. You don't need anything because you're not a moderator. become a moderator before you keep tryin to run me over. And none of my quotes were false, by suggesting that, you are implying that I am either gullible or a liar and I am neither. I've been pretty calm in tone but when you start implying that my intelligence or my honesty is less than, I'm gonna get a bit annoyed. And I'll drop this when i want to drop this.

I assume the one you think is false is the one where Gerard says he's gay. Ever heard of sarcasm? Why don't you look the quotes yourself before deciding what is and isnt possible of coming out of Gerard Way's mouth.

xXxLadyofSorrowXxX, learn to drop it.
This is a discussion board, not a playpen.
Ruby has been civil with you this entire time, and you continue to be rude.
Please smarten up before you get yourself caught in a mess you won't be able to get out of.
I believe this is a thread about Homosexual Rights, not a place for you to whine about your intelligence and so on.
Quit spamming.

With that attitude, it won't be long before the Mods are talking to you.

The quote where Gerard says "he is a homosexual" is false.
I can guarantee that by about 99%.
Especially considering how in one of the latest interviews
with Kerrang he said he just broke up with his girlfriend of 6 years.

By the way, if you keep responding without talking about the topic,
it is spam, and I will report it. This is about the third homosexual rights
thread, and it is a precarious one for spam already.

Taylor - Unfortunately, religion is the one thing that we can never
truly rid ourselves from when it comes to the government
and laws. The gov't is so terrified of angering large amounts
of people, that it can't afford to alienate any group that may
re-elect it.

It's killing the rights of the few to gain the approval of the many.

Good point, however, eventually it's all the little groups that the government ignored in order to appeal to majority that end up joining together to fight back.
Who knows, maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't.
Maybe all the homosexuals will just move to New Jersey.
I'm not sure, but it's going to be an uphill battle that isn't going to end for a while.

^Exactly.
It's like the greek man who was sentenced to roll a rock up a hill forever,
never getting to the top.

There are some things you can reach for, but never get.
Total human equality is one of them, due to man's ignorance
and fear restricting his ability to trust and accept.
