I've played bass for like six years now.
I'm a bassist in like two bands.
I think stuff like The Used and lostprophets are the easiest to play...
Although The Blackout and AFI are fun to play, even if they do annoy you at first.

MCR have horrendously boring bass lines.

Yes
It's so simple.
A three year old could play it.

I don't see why people say that Mikey Way is their bassist hero when everything he plays is

G|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-5555555555555555----------------------------------------------------|
E|------------------7777777777777777-3333333333333333-5555555566667777-|

There's nothing really special about that.

i actually agree to that. I mean, have you seen the bass to INO. its like 48 of the fifth fret on the a string. I've been playing bass for about 2 weeks, because my bands bassist left[as did my other singer] so im like lead singer and bassist. I actually LOVE my bass. I play it for like, hours after school. I need a new strap though..

I can play bass, execpt I don't have my own. I like messing around on other peoples, or I just dont use the two extra strings on my guitars if I wanna learn a song. Bass is pretty easy.

I love bass. I play my dad's, one he gave to me, & my favorite bass line I've learned is either snakes on a plane or love will tear us apart.
I just love the sound.

I agree.
The ending to Snakes on a Plane is so awesome.

I think bass is only easy with what you decide to play.
Say, if it were the blues, it would be more of a challenge to learn rather than a song by My Chemical Romance.

>.<

Wikipedia:

In music, a walking bass is a bass accompaniment generally consisting of unsyncopated notes of equal value, usually quarter notes ( known in jazz as a "four feel" ). Walking bass lines are used in rock, blues, rock-a-billy, ska, R&B, gospel, latin, country, and many other genres (Friedland 1995, p.4).

here's an example of one my music teacher taught me:

G|------0-2-33-2-0--------------|
D|---2-------------2------------|
A|-3----------------------------|
E|------------------------------| { x2 }

G|---2-5-7-88-7-5-2-------------|
D|-3----------------------------|
A|------------------------------|
E|------------------------------| { x1 }

G|------0-2-33-2-0--------------|
D|---2-------------2------------|
A|-3----------------------------|
E|------------------------------| { x2 }

G|-0-4-7-10-------|---2-5-8--------|
D|----------------|-3--------------|
A|----------------|----------------|
E|----------------|----------------| { x1 }

G|-----------0---5--------|
D|------2------------3~---|
A|-3----------------------|
E|------------------------| { x1 }

You let the last note ring out (:

i play! Smile

blues can be the most fun to play.
I like playing basslines that are more little tunes then just hitting the same not 50 times, and i like making up my own tunes to them.

good bass lines = sweet home alabama
muse - time is running out
and of course ... pink floyd - money

honestly i found i got alot better by learning the actual note reading not just looking at the tabs..

i always found it easier to finger pick, but if u do try and start using alternate fingers to pick as then u can build up speed.

I have to agree that if you want to learn the bass you should attempt at learning the notes. I had my bass for a couple of months before I started learning with lessons and Mainly used Tab so my brain is melted and I can't be bothered learning notes again. My teacher tried to teach me but he sucks so i'm quitting.

I suggest start learning by picking with fingers and just playing along to your favourite songs. Once you have learnt them well you feel like you've acomplished something but also it makes it easier to remember notes and finger placement.

Hope that helps <3
