Actually those kinds of videos are generally on channels that are only available if you have cable or sattelite, and most cable and sattelite companies offer some kind of parental control where parents can block those channels. If a parent doesn't want a child seeing those things, it's his or her responsibility to ensure that, not the government's.

Besides, that's probably closer to pornography than prostitution.

That's true. Most prostitutes do it because it's their last resort, or they are being forced to sell their bodies. Drugs are often included, to get the girls to do what they need to be doing, and to keep them hooked so they can't just get up and go. It's sad, it's disgusting yet it's reality, and there's really not much anyone can do about it.

Detention Boy.:
I look at that question on this way:

If its legalization will prevent selling women into slavery, I'm for it.

If it will stop the spreading of sex-disseses, I'm for it.

But, it won't, because that's not the way that world works. Pimps will still continue to recruit young girls, they will continue beating the crap out of the other girl if they haven't made enough money. TThey will still be mistreated and abused if not murdered.

but if they legalize it, they can regulate it. and create by-laws for it. And because it's legal, any prostitute will have the ability to go the authorites and complain about being mistreated in the workplace.

Detention Boy.:
I'm against it. There are numerous escort agencies, that are the cover for prostitution and the government isn't doing much to stop it. They keep looking the other way.

the reason it's legal is because their loop-hole is basically asking men to pay money to go be accompanied by a woman. what is implied but left unsaid is that you get sex along with this date.

Detention Boy.:
When it comes to pimps beating the crap out of a poor woman, they spend the night or two in prison and then they're free to beat her again. Or they'll just bail themselves out.

It isn't fair that someone is making huge amounts of money on someone else's suffering, because that's what it is...I've never met anyone who is willing to sell their body for kicks and enjoys it.

There actually are women who enjoy sex with people. Who are we to tell people who they can and can't have sex with and what the conditons should be? That would mean the government getting too involved with our personal lives.

i agree.
if you are a parent and do not want your child to watch, then put a block on it.
not that hard.

If someone's doing it to support their family, is that wrong?

depends on your whole outlook of it first of all. it might be wrong to society, but to someone else it might not be.

I think it depends. Obviously it's a tragedy if someone is forced to turn to prostitution just out of need, and I think we as a society should examine the conditions that lead up to that. And since personally I'm not against prostitution itself as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult, I don't think the people who do that are horrible people. Then there are those who would say that it's someone's own damn fault if they allow themselves to slip to the point that they need to sell their bodies to survive. It's a very complicated question and it involves a lot more than the issue of prostitution itself.

to me there are other ways to work out if you got to the point where you ran out of money. why should someone need to resprt to sex for money to support a family? i wouldn't want my spouse having sex with jane doe number one and jane doe number two every night just for money.

Borrowed Dream:
It's very dangerous. You don't know the person' background , you don't know if they have an STI or if you will get pregnant with their child. Are they violent? Would they beat you or kill you if you refused to do something for them? You can't be sure.
There are so many better, safer ways of getting money.
It doesn't matter how well-looked after it is or how much the government tries to protect the people who are selling themselves (basically), there is no way of checking everyone's background. How are you supposed to know everything about everyone in the country who uses the prostitution services? You can't.
Therefore how do you know who may put these vulnerable and often very young girls in danger?

Well, If you do any job you have a risk of getting hurt. We dont illegalize cashiers because they might get shot by a robber.

Ichabod Crane:

Do you think prostitution should be legal? Why or why not?

It should be legal, but there should also be some regulations. I think brothels are okay, as long as they are inspected at least once a month, and the prostitutes have regular health checkups.

Having said that, I am 100% against pimps: not people that run brothels like the ones I mentioned above, but pimps that exploit [mainly] women to get money. That should be illegal.

As long as the person that is selling their body is getting the profit and takes proper care of themselves, it's fine.

But prostitution is very hard to regulate, as it's so easy to get away with it if it is illegal.

Well I think it should be legal, because if people want to sell themselves then thats fine. Maybe these people are desperate for money and have no other choice and its better than being a drug dealer or something dodgy like that.

Well personally i wouldn't do prostitution.

Some people do it because they need the money because they never did well at school and its the only source of income, some because they need to feed and support there child and can't get a job and others who are whores and do it because they find it fun and get paid at the same time. eww

There are countries that have it it legal in and it is kept uncontrol, and it has been proved that it brings down the number of rapes. If a man has needs and has the option of raping a girl and been sent to prison and having their name on the sex offenders list or paying to have sex with a women who want, its obvious that they would pick the prostitute.

So i think that it should be legal but kept uncontrol.

Honestly I think you should be able to do what you want with your body. And I dont think the poor people should have to go to jail for it.

But people do it for free (whore), and THATS legal. So Im going to have to say yes right now.
