I've been vegetarian for 8 years, and recently, I've been seriously considering veganism.
But is it really worth it? I mean, because lots have things just have traces of dairy/animal products.
And is it very bad for your health?
Any input would be helpful. (:

My sister's friend is a vegan caterer and when I asked her, she said that it really isn't that bad. Like, when I was considering it, I was particularly worried about eating out but she said that most places are really hospitable and will cater to your needs.

I'm thinking about becoming a vegetarian this August.
By then, I've been a pescetarian for a year and it's been going great so far. (:

I sometimes feel really dizzy and can't see after standing up, could this be a result of being vegetarian (close to 8 months)?

are you taking supplements? if not then you probably should try it.
it could be to do with being vegetarian, have you ever had it before?

I get that, but I've had it since before I stopped eating meat.
I feel dizzy, my vision goes fuzzy and it's like everything darkens.

I have pretty much the same thing, and it hasn't happened before I became vegetarian.I was taking iron supplements every day for around two months, but they didn't help. Right now, I'm not taking supplements anymore, and it's not getting worse, so I'm not sure what is going on.

^maybe just try taking them again, they definitely can't hurt, and all dieticians say that vegetarians should take them even if they have a healthy diet.
maybe try taking a generic multi vitamin as well, because you might be missing other vitamins that you used to get from meat

when you eat dishes with tofu, how do you prepare it so it keeps its shape?
i usually put mine in the wok but it just completely falls apart and looks like sour milk, lmao.

^ what sort of tofu do you use?
i use marinated tofu that you can buy from nearly all supermarkets in aus.
it comes in packets of 4 squares, i have forgotten the name. D:
and they come in heaps of flavours that go with stir frys and stuff.
you can also buy extra firm tofu and use that.

i use silken tofu. i suppose the firm one would've been a better buy, lmao.
does the marinated tofu stay together well?

the marinated tofu is a semi-firm one.
like the ones that come in laksa's and stuff.
it is also really nice to fry. but it tastes bad cold.
but it stays together really well, and it's not tough.
you can also buy it plain i think, if you didn't like the flavor.
the satay one is my fav, you can get it from coles, woolworths, iga, pretty much everywhere.

silken isn't that good for stirfrys, unless you put it in when you serve it.
my dad put silken tofu in a tomato based pasta sauce, and it was so good <3
sounds weird, but tastes good.
you should try it if you only like the silken kind.

I've been vegetarian for around a year and a half now.
After all of my exams are out of the way, I'm going to focus on my diet more as I am in desperate need to lose weight this summer. I'm hoping to be completely vegan by August. I'm half way there as I do not eat eggs, I occassionally drink cow's milk because the store I used to buy soya milk does not sell it anymore and I've cut out butter, swapped it for a vegan brand and I honestly cannot taste any difference, it's much nicer.
