i think online relationships can work for some people, but just not for others. i talked to this same boy every day for a year, and i got really fond of him. he asked me out and i said yes, but then he got another girlfriend but still said he really liked me. thats a downer of online relationships.

I think that if the people are willing to put their minds to it, sure, they can do it. The distance can be bad, like long distance relationships that involve mere phone calls rather than just typing back and forth to one another.
Like everything, it has it's risks.
It takes a lot of committment and a lot of trust. |

My dad met his girlfriend on the internet, and they live together now. Living proof that Internet relationships can work. |

Unless you're a 49-year-old.
Sorry. So it's not spam...
I agree. Being smart is something you should always do online though, not just when it comes to relationships. |

People think they're being smart and that they'll be okay, but a lot of teen girls have been murdered from going to meet their online 'boyfriend' and finding out the person is not who they say they are. The internet isn't really safe at all, unfortunately. Even the tiniest bit of information could be the key to someone getting to you. |

how do you really know someone if you've never got to know them in person?
chances of online relationships lasting for over 6 months is rare in my world...
for all you know you can think you "love" the person and they could end up being somebody you don't even want to talk to anymore once you meet them. |

Age: 41 Gender: Female Posts: 2354 | March 10th, 2007 at 11:30pm Online relationships really depends on how both of you handles the situation..
Trust is the main foundation of it..you should just be aware of the pros and cons of the relationship..
im fine with these as long as we love each other..but heck i dont have an online bf yet, so its hard to tell if it will go smooth..well dont expect anything too |

Age: 30 Gender: Female Posts: 2616 | March 11th, 2007 at 05:45am I think they can work, but it's like what drucilla_way said, you need to want the person, and not just a person.
If the person I speak to most online was younger, and I was older, I think we've both mutually agreed that we would be in an online relationship.
I think that the same rules should still apply, in terms of age gaps and things. |

Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 1151 | March 12th, 2007 at 01:47pm I think its okay when you're older than 14.
But i dont get them becos you dont know if its the real person you think it is..
They could show you a picture that isnt them.
Ive not tryed it and i wont EVER try it.
But You ALWAYS(!!) See them on the Jeramy Kyle show The week after .
My sister (Age 17) Met a dude from MSN Who just randomly added,
Shes with him now and been with him for a year,
So i guess it could be good for some people..
But he lives somewhere far from Manchester.
So its hard for her too meet with him.
I Dont wanna say anything too her becos shes bigger stronger and really coooool
And hes older i think hes 19..So i 'spose it's okay for some people who go on decent sites
Like ones advertised on TV |

hmm...
i think that online relationships are really complicated
many dont work out because there is no physical connection.
and if it does, it was truly something that is meant to be...
but i dont think anything is wrong with them.
