You seem to assume that parents would be against it...My parents have been to shows and they aren't most accepting of people being gay, but they have never said a word about it. It's a performance. What's the difference between that and a girl gyrating on a guy at some other concert? It's been said before that compared to a lot of shows the stuff that goes on at MCR shows is pretty watered down.

There's no difference, and I'm "against" that too. Like I've said,I don't MIND Frerard, but when it OVERSHADOWS the music and the speeches and things that's when it gets annoying.

Sowing SeasonL:Thanks for posting that! I haven't heard one of their speeches in forever and it's nice to know they still do them, when was that from?

Would it make a difference how they did it?? If a parent wasn't happy with that message it doesn't matter if it's put through verbally or through their performance, they're still not going to like it.

What the hell is wrong with seeing two guys kiss? It's just the same as a girl and a guy kissing, they're still people. I don't see why it should be a problem.

I agree with you.
No matter how the band puts it some people aren't going to like it.

Why is everybody starting to complain about this now? This has been going on FOR YEARS.

When you go to see a MCR show, wtf do you want them to do? Make their shows all happy and rated G? Are you expecting a rock show or a fucking Hannah Montana show? Their shows have always been sexual and vulgar. No matter how many parents complain they will always do it. They. Don't. Care. That's the point. They're being themselves and not conforming to what other people want. That's been the point of this band since the beginning.

The proudness is they're showing people it's alright to be doing this stuff with other people of the same sex. They want people to be comfortable with who they are and by doing what they do onstage, it accomplishes something, even if you don't think it does.

Clap

I was just about to say the same thing but you said it so much more better.

MCR have never cared for what others might think of them, in fact, they embrace the fact that they are outsiders. I would think they would expect the same from their fans.

In my opinion it doesn't overshadow the music. Musically, their performances are on top form at the moment. Like it's been said, they don't have to do an inspiration speech everytime they come on stage.

It only overshadows the music if you let it, if you make it a big deal. Otherwise it's just part of the performance, and you roll on.

OH man finally found the quote I was looking for.

"There's definitely a trashy X-rated vibe to our live set, mainly to put off homophobes... It's like aggressive, softcore gay porn. There's a little man love, maybe some smooching, definitely some crotch grabbing. I definitely used to fuck the monitors." - Gerard Way, Kerrang! Issue 78, November 05.

but what i mean is like this there is a my chem fan who has never seen ferard but heard the words that come out of the bands mouth during there concerts. The fans parent decides to come along what the heck would the parent say to there kid when there kid see's ferard happening on stage, that its perfectly normal?
if mcr's concerts werent age appropriate dont you think there would be a notice on that?
but there isnt is there thats why i think gerard should be that innappropriate on stage because like i said there are fans any age who have never been to a mcr concert with parents too that dont even know about this stuff.
secondly why would you lie to your parents about ferard .If you decide to go to an mcr concert with your parent and inside the back of your head you know that ferard is gonna happen what do you think your parent is gonna say when he/she witnesses ferard on stage.its not a pleasent sight is it?

whats the point in being proud of this kind of sexuality happening on stage?

Most rock shows are all ages. But that still doesn't mean young kids should be there. I see plenty of stuff that 13/14 and under kids maybe shouldn't see at all ages shows. It's up to parents to decide what is age appropriate for their child, not My Chemical Romance. If your parents don't like what My Chem is doing. That's awful, explain to them how incredible they are. Make them listen to one of Gerard's speeches. But if that doesn't work kids are just going to have to wait until their parents think that it is or turn 18. And I'm pretty sure most My Chem fans know what Ferard is and what their live show is like unless they are new to the fandom which if that is the case there's no doubt they will find out very soon. You can't expect a band to change for that. God knows I wouldn't.

I never lied about all the boy love at My Chem shows to my mom. I just made sure she never found out about it because I knew she would never approve. My mom doesn't agree with homosexuality. So I kept it a secret. I don't have to anymore since I'm adult and can do whatever I like. I was 16 at my first My Chem show. That's a good age for a rock show. My mom has never and will never go to a rock show with me. Parents shouldn't be a rock shows. They really get in the way. Do you really want your dad in a mosh pit? Your mom there at a show while you're rock out? No

And it only over shadows the music if you let it.

I think it's annoying.
They DO have fans that would like to go see their favorite band perform their music, but if they're gonna do all that Ferard crap, I know I wouldn't go see them.
They've always been all about the music for me, and now they're turning it into something completely different.

I don't know.
I just wish they would stop, and just play their music again.
It's still an amazing show without all the making out and crotch grabbing.
And how is it normal for them to just start making out anyway?
What other bands do that?
None. Because it's weird.

But what I find funny is that you're complaining about it just starting "now", when they've been doing this ever since Frank joined the band.

Fall Out Boy did it. The Used do it. Panic! At the Disco do it. It's not rare. I'm not going to comment on the "it's weird part" in detail, but that's complete and utter bull.

i just mean it seems like it stopped for a while.
then it started again.
and the whole "it's weird" thing, that's my opinion.
i guess we'll agree to disagree about that.

There are other bands that do the whole groping/kissing thing.
The Used is one example.
Simple Plan's bassist and singer are known to grope eachother and/or do other sexual type things.
Billie Joe pretends to masturbate during one song they preform live (I think ti's Hitchen' a Ride)
and I can go on.
You may think it's weird but some people don't. Everyone has a differnet opinion on it.

Who cares? It's not new, and you're ruining the damn show for yourself if you're going to take it so friggin personally.

Open your mind and don't be so homophobic. It's not right and the band is against it.

By saying it's all about the music, and then not going to see them just because every now and then they touch eachother in a way you don't consider "normal" you're slightly hypocritical. Like I've said, it's not affecting the quality of the performance, so how about you go and just not look at them? You can still hear the music, and that's what you're all about right?

Yeah I don't mean to bully, I just felt like saying you wouldn't go to any show was a bit over the top. You have a right to your opinion.

The Used used to kiss all the time too. Quinn/Bert. Even a bit of Jepha/BertThere was some Bert/WIL (Aiden) love going around too. They kissed at my TOC show. And I think Bert said something a long the lines of "I don't know how many times I've made out with Jared Leto". So there's some 30stm boy love for you too. I've even seen Spencer of Underoath give one of the guitarist a kiss on the cheek.

And as far as fanfiction goes I really don't think they care that much. They've read some themselves. But they know it's for the fans. Plus Frank and Gerard kinda encourage it by all the stage love they do. I don't actually think anyone in My Chem is gay or Bi, but licking, kissing, putting your finger in their jeans, spanking, pretending like your giving them a handjob or caressing your band mate's chest in suggestive way isn't encouraging MCR slash. I don't know what is.

"Q: Have you ever read any of the fanfictions people write about you?
*guys laugh*
Mikey: My friends sent me one once. It was creepy! My friends are interested in all that stuff, so they all sit online and send it to each other and laugh. And then one of them emailed one to me and it was something really fucking out of hand.
Frank: I heard Mikey is hot for me.
Interviewer: The hottest couple is you and Gerard actually.
F: Oh really? We're the hottest couple?
Bob: That's amazing.
I: That's actually one of the most active parts of the forum, the fanfiction section.
F: Wow! That's crazy. My god! Well, if that's what gets you hot, go for it."
